Pest in second grow (soil this time)

Hello everybody,

This is my second grow, first one was with coco and this time around I've decided to do it in soil. Less waterings and less work. Hydro was fun but I need a better grow room structure to pull it off.

The plants are 14 days old and this started to show.

I've just sprayed the soil and the plants with a tetramethrin product hoping this will work. I plan in spraying them with neem oil 1.5ml/L and I've also ordered diatomaceous which I will close up the soil with it.

From literature found online I've narrowed it down to either mites or leaf miners... but It could be something else, I'm on my second grow.

thanks everyone!!!!

Thrips would be my guess... your current plan should take care of em.

My advice is go back to coco... if u don’t like watering so often look up the PPK method- crazy cheap diy build. Since going to it iv had zero pest or nute issues I’m headed into 4th round using this method

Coco isn't required, just what most of us use... It would need to be a medium that wicks water and isn't heavy like soil. I think some guys even use the Floor Dry that they wash the dust out of...

The basics of it is a container that you attach a throat piece from a sink drain too, you cap that off with cloth on the bottom and stick it into a resevoir of some sort, I use low profile rubbermaid tubs. This allows the container to wick water up, but you also put a tiny pond pump in and put on cycle timer to a watering halo to water a lot. Many guys use like 20 seconds every 45 mins. I use 1 min every two hours just due to limitations of my timer. This keeps the water always fresh, and basically turns it into a hydroponic set up without all the finikyness that hydro can give you and if you are away and a pump fails the plant stays watered by the natural wicking action.

I just use clothes baskets lined with weedblock fabric- damn roots poke right out through the fabric, they grow like crazy in em. Most of us that use the method just use Jacks Hydro nutes which are dry form and crazy cheap and work great....

So this is still going on, I'm starting to worry. The tetramethrin spray I applied on the plants and on the soil apparently was harsh on them and they are a little limp. Today was watering day so I watered with neem oil and sprayed some on the plants as well...

I'm still in doupt of what pest this might be.

Some of the symptoms:
  1. I've noticed little black dots all over the leaves, I think its their crap.
  2. These lighter/brownish large spots have now shoed up on all my babies.
  3. The leaf tips are going into necrosis or something, because shit's looking bad.
  4. growth has ceased.
  5. new growth has lighter green or even yellow to it.
  6. Some of the affected areas have a weird sheen to them very silver looking.

aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!
thx

I still guess thrips, but ive not had many different bugs... knock on wood. So my experience w em isnt broad... ive had thrips and thats what it looked like, those dots n silvery trails...

Make sure you arent overdoing the cure either n stessing her bad w too many chemicals n such... if im right thrips arent great but they arent spider mites either...they arent gunna ruin it in no time... little cure n give her a moment.

These girls we grow are no pansy asses they are tough bitches... steady as she goes and ull be okay..

Lots of guys scare nubes that these are fragile hard to grow plants... sure some advanced technique can turn a great girl into a bit greater girl... but remember these bitches been getting folks high for thousands of years before the surgically sterile indoor grow rooms were even thought of...

So this Is how she woke up today. The new growth has this bleached look to it. I’ve been regretting having done the tetramethrin spray on them idk.

I’ve sprinkled the soil with diatomaceous earth and tomorrow there is a next watering with neem oil on it.

Yesterday I did some foliar spray with bio heaven from bio bizarre, and I have noticed they liked it a lot. BUT, new growth keeps bleachin out on me.

Next week I’m doing a azamax spray, should I do it later and give them time to recover?

Thanks shit keeps getting weird-er

coca grows are easy. you can go 3 days with out water if you push it or just use bigger pot.
soil = bugs = worse grow then last one and or more annoyances then expected
best to stick with one sort of growing and get good at that
