So a while back me and my mate were having an afternoon smoke :joint: and we got to taking about how marijuana seed/plant breeding has come a long way these days, what with autoflower strains etc when we thought how cool it would be to have an outdoor skunk strain thats as hardy as an ordinary everyday garden perennial weed. e.g an outdoor skunk strain thats hardy enough to grow/flower/re-grow after winter year after year. Well I think I've found a strain that fits the bill >>>

Doggies Nuts Seeds - "Big Bad John" - has been a long time coming and definitely confirms that the times they are a changing! As believe it or not this is deciduous herbaceous perennial strain. For those of you that are not that horticulturally aware this means it has the ability to re-emerge after it has died.
The cannabis seeds and not so commonly the plant can get over winter and re-emerge come the spring, as in this little, or should we say big beauty will auto flower once it is established - if left to be, it will set cannabis seeds, then these cannabis seeds will grow and then these plants will do the same thing so on and so forth ad infinitum!
For those of you that have still not seen the light, this means that it can grow wild and if left unchecked will colonise the areas where it is placed! in one season it can produce 3-4 generations of offspring and as each generation matures they will do the same thing!

Sounds interesting IMO and I think I'm gonna try these for an outdoor grow next year  Yeah I know it's Doggies Nuts/Pukka Seeds and these beans are gonna cost me £125 ($192.72) for 10 reg's but if they work as they are supposed to they'll pay for themselves really!! There is not much info' around on this strain so I think I'll have to give it a go, I'm truely interested to see if they work or are any good, anybody here tried it or know anyone who has?? :peace:bongsmilie

pretty much all cannabis will spit a few bananas if left long enough man.

Nah mate thats not what I ment, I'm in the UK so I need an outdoor strain to flower/seed/fall and regrow after winter with no help or interference from me, just like everyday garden wild perennial weeds. We have very harsh, unpredictable, cold, snowy and wet weather here through winter esp this year. And security is an issue also, these would be planted outside in a very isolated location too miles away from any towns/people so the longer they can last on their own the better. The strain above "seems" to fit the bill.

your still not getting what im trying to say. if you plant MJ outside and if your females have not been pollinated come harvest time, and if you leave it they will spit out a few nanners and self polinate and make seeds to ensure the survival of the species. so basically the majority of cannabis will do this if left alone. if you read the description you posted again it states that "if left to be, it will set cannabis seeds" - all cannabis will do this if not pollinated.

Shit Bro', your right d'oh  lol . I was really hammered last nite what with it being crimbo eve and saw this strain while drunkenly net surfin and it reminded me of a stoned conversation I had with a mate once about crossing mari with an everyday garden weed. And me buyin DN seeds too WTF was I thinkin about lol . The lesson for me here is acohol makes me stupid :dunce:, it's why I don't usually drink and I'm usually weed total. Thanx for pointin out my error here, have a good Xmas :joint::peace: Also I ment to say for me to: harvest and just drop the seeds again after harvest, de-seeding the Bud and dropping the seeds again in the same location, last over winter and then for them to grow again next spring without me being there to help them.

Cannabis plants are annuals, weeds are annuals, not perennials.

Any strain, a sunk variety or not, if allowed to created and drop seeds, or if you collect the seeds and scatter/plant in the spring will, like like a garden weed, grow every year. Do you want seedy pot?

What you think would be cool is how cannabis has survived in natures for thousands and thousands and thousands or years. If in a climate where cannabis can grow, it will grow each and every year, it will do precisely what you seem to believe will take a; "hardy enough" strain to do so.

Definitions of Annual plant on the Web:

  • An annual plant is a plant that usually germinates, flowers, and dies in a year or season. True annuals will only live longer than a year if they are prevented from setting seed. Some seedless plants can also be considered annuals even though they do not grow a flower.

  • completes its life cycle within a one year period.. Summer annuals complete their life cycle between spring and fall. Winter annuals germinate in fall, overwinter and then flower and complete their life cycle the following spring or summer.

  • A plant that completes its life cycle in a year or less.

  • A plant which flowers, fruits, and dies in one season.

Definitions of Perennial plant on the Web:

  • A perennial plant or perennial (Latin per, "through", annus, "year") is a plant that lives for more than two years. When used by gardeners or horticulturalists, applies specifically to winter hardy perennial herbaceous plants. ...

  • lives for more than 2 years.

  • Species of plant that lives longer than two years. Perennial plants are divided into two large groups, those that are woody and those that are herbaceous.

  • a perennial plant that grows from a bulb. Flowers: single, large, sometimes trumpet-shaped. Genus Lilium.

Hey Bricktop thanx for the input Bro', like I said it was a stoned conversation between me & a mate a while back and I was pissed last nite mate lol and no mate I don't want seeded smoke just seedless sticky icky.
And I ment an outdoor strain that can withstand the upredictable weather here where I am in the UK. Do you have any recommendations??

I have no idea what the conditions can be like in your area so I have no idea if they might be extreme enough to keep a plant from growing from seeds it dropped each year. The question though is do you want less potent seedy pot just to have plants come up on their own each spring?

You can follow this link and check out Skunk strains and see if you find any that are strictly outdoor growing plants rather than just indoor or indoor/outdoor and see if any are said to be very strong vibrant hardy plants.

Cheers mate, I've seen your posts around the site here you give good insight bro so thanx for the tip. And yes mate I'd like to just have the plants come up on their own each spring that would be a lot better

Every once in a while a plant might come back from the year before, but it isn't really something you control. Tomatoes do this once in a while too.
