We want to thank RIU for the opportunity to be an advertiser on these forums by giving back to this community. So we decided to host a friendly competition that will give several of you the opportunity to test our latest Penetrator X3 LED Grow Lights free of charge.

Competition 1: Side-by-Side LED vs LED Grow Test
At the top of this post is a Poll. We need your votes to determine which LED competitor you most want to see our Penetrator lights compared against. After 7 days the top 2 competitors with the most votes will be announced. Within 3 days after the announcement anyone who owns a light from the top 2 competitors can submit their name to win a light to be used exclusively in a side-by-side test against that competitor. We will then announce a new poll where forum members get to vote on which of you they want to see perform the test.

Competition 2: Side-by-Side LED vs HID Grow Test
While we have decimated HID since our inception, it never gets old seeing it done again and again. So for all you die-hard HID fans who are still skeptical of LED grow lights, this test is for you! Submit your name in a reply to this post, the phrase "LED vs HID" and the brand/wattage of fixture you wish to use. After 7 days we will announce a new poll where forum members get to vote on which of you they want to see perform the test.

    Competition 3: LED Micro Grow

Our lights have always been about maximum yield and quality, and micro grows have always been one of the best means to showcase this. If you currently have a micro cabinet or space and want to test our Penetrator LEDs in it, submit your name in a reply to this post with the phrase "Micro Grow", and tell us the dimensions of your space. After 7 days we will announce a new poll where forum members get to vote on which of you they want to see perform the test.

Whether you want to be an applicant or are just passing through, we encourage everyone to take part in this competition. We need your votes on members and opinions on which LED competitor you want to see us compared against! Thank you again to RIU and all its members!

The requirements of these giveaways is as follows:
    • Recipient of test light will perform a peer-reviewed, unbiased and scientific grow test on RIU
    • The grow test must begin within 2 weeks of receiving your test light
    • At least once per week you will upload at least 7 high resolution photos and a progress report to your grow test thread on RIU
    • Side-by-side tests will have each light in it's own space wherein light from other areas does not enter.
    • Side-by-sides will require clones from the same mother plant. After veg the healthiest 2/3 of the plants from each group will be used to carry out the bloom test.
    • Side-by-sides will test an equal number of plants in an identical sized area with all other variables as close to the same as possible (temp, humidity, pH, etc...) unless otherwise instructed.
    • Any changes to these requirements must have written approval from HydroGrowLED
    • Growers who follow the requirements and complete their tests accordingly will be awarded the LED test light as a gift after the competition. If the requirements are not met, the grower must return the light within 2 weeks of their completion or failure of their grow test.

Need to run these against HLG 550 V2 or similar from HLG. Those are what the fanboys are hot on and who you need to win over.
I have been eying your spectrum for a few but prices are just too steep bongsmilie

Maybe brother @hybridway2 would be up for another side by side and has many of the other led's :hump:

I've never heard of HLG, but we have been HGL since 2009... someone trying to spinoff our name lol? I did just look at their product though and it wouldn't stand a chance against any of our lights. White LED's have about 1/3 the PAR output per watt of a full color spectrum. We built one of our 21X units (discontinued 2015) with white 2700K LEDs and compared it to another with our G4 6-band spectrum. The white unit consumed more watts (phosphor coated blues "aka white" consume far more voltage than red) and produced about 1/3 the PAR per watt. Also SMD LEDs are way less efficient than high power, especially without a lens or secondary lens to focus the intensity of the light. Those HLG fixtures remind me of Haight Solid State who people were hot on when we launched on 420 Magazine in 2009. A moderator ran the side by side and we wound up doing almost 4x the yield per watt as the underdog of the competition. Would love to see another comparison like that.

Fluence was BML Horticulture, who's a spinoff of Illumitex, who's a spinoff of Philips. Have met members of every company in the past.

I have a strong feeling that the spectrum on this light would be much less likely to cause LED Deficiency and would also give any of the other advertisers here's lights a run for their money watt for watt

I would love to try out an LED light for my "micro-grow" area. I currently have a 2' T12 shop light in my 28" x 16" x 32" closet and it's lacking. I can start new plants asap and log the grow daily/weekly. Pick me!!!

Yes we are the original Bad-Asses in the industry. We ran into problems with the Chinese back in 2011 when they began counterfeiting our products and selling them to the masses. We were the first to release secondary lenses and square reflectors to the world, as well as a 6-band spectrum, the green component (525nm) and 60 degree primary lenses (amongst other things). Our development is what shaped the modern LED grow light industry as all of our development was open-source published to the web to better our competition. You are also correct that a few competitors launched a smear campaign against our founder for being a lesbian amongst other things. Most of what was posted to the web was hateful libel that can only be viewed legally as defamation. At the end of the day someone's sexual preferences or gender should have absolutely no bearing whatsoever on how we judge the performance and quality of their product.

You seem to have the most support thus far for the LED vs LED side by side, and HLG has the most votes. Things are looking mighty good for you in being one of our first testers :)
