Peat vs. Rockwool

I'm about to start my hydro grow and I can't get a hold of any rock wool in my town but I can get peat. I was just wondering if the peat works as well as rock wool does so I don't need to order them of the internet.

no. peat has a low ph, 5 and under. it takes a very long time and lots of effort to get the ph to a proper level. by that time, your plants are so screwed you'll want to start over.
