Yet when we kill a quarter million people with a bomb we tell them to get over it.
Yeah.....payback's a bitch!.......
Why we don't hold the president accountable for knowing it was going to happen and allowing it to happen so we could enter the war is beyond me. Power, greed, and corruption are a MF.
In 40-50 years we will "discover" that BushCo did 911. Disgusting.
Yeah, Power, greed, and corruption applied across the board............
View from outside my home. There be the Arizona Memorial.
You simply do not understand the people or the time. That bomb saved millions of japanese lives, or so thought the isei and nisei, who lived around us. It was a different world than you can imagine and history can not accurately portray the time. We did not tell them to get over it. We helped them rebuild their country. By the time my hub was stationed there in the 1970's they were our friends and almost a different people from the people our parents generation fought (my dad USA, hub's dad USMC).
I will suggest another immeasurable benefit. The two bombs made such a terrible example of using nukes in anger ... that we managed to avoid their use until this day. Now the Cold War with its doctrine of mutual assured destruction, a very credible world-killer scenario, has been dismantled.
Seems the younger generation only remembers what they saw on the movies...
Hey ringsixty...I need a vacation. You got a spare room.lol. Peace & be kind.
I think Pearl and Bataan were ample proof we were enemies and justification enough for me.
Yep, if you don't mind sleeping with my plants
I think another element is that people change over time. It goes deeper than merely fashion but social mores. You can't judge yesterday by today's yardstick. I can understand that in retrospect but at the time when my parent's were saying the same thing I did not have a real understanding. Age brings perspective and wisdom to some, I'm just grateful for perspective.
My Native American grandfather met my Japanese grandmother while being stationed in Japan in the 50's.
how do you people know about this stuff? Did finshaggy do a video? He has a new whiteboard
Na we are just old and remember
I think it's why I smoke so much pot. I'm trying hard to forget.
I went to the arizona memorial once....it was closed
I've been there a couple of times.
It is somber and at the same time melancholy beyond words.
Edit: That's how it hits me.
I've been to the Arizona, once. And I've been to Arlington once, that's all I could take...........
