I just have to get this off my mind. Why have most people fallen for this paper test for enzyme products? Who in their right mind actually uses those products at full strength? Cannazym's site is now pushing this idiotic test to the limits with a video of a guy with a lab coat on as if he's an actual scientist. People are buying it. They are marketing geniuses I'll give them that, no I take that back cause hygrozyme started the paper test. If you can convince the masses of a lie that helps to sell your product then you have the consumer right where you want them.
Please don't be dooped by this. Believe it or not roots are an essential part of your soil structure dead or not. Just like coconut husks or coco coir is used as a bulking agent roots do it also without the added salt. Dead or alive roots provide a habitat for microbes and any system completely free of microbes would be catastrophic. Cells produce enzymes, that's right, without a living cell enzymes cannot be possible. Enzymes are protein chains or RNA which are not living things but catalysts created for any given circumstance to catalyze a certain reaction, i.e. breaking molecular bonds like freeing up phosphorus into orthophosphates which are readily accessible to your plants. Bacteria (or microbes) are living cells most notoriously known for their ability to produce enzymes for their given environment. Bacteria are in the air, that's right millions of bacteria are just floating around you at any given time. So if you rid your system of all bacteria the likelihood of introducing pathogenic bacteria or fungus like pythium is extremely high.
So if these enzymatic products actually contain beneficial bacteria you are heading in the right direction. Because what you really want to do is control the types of bacteria present in your system and bend your bacteria populations to the beneficial side. If these products are just acid products that contain sugars and NPK's you are adding things to your system that can cause more problems than benefits.
