So can I spray paint cfl bulbs blue and red to get the spectrum I need? I doubt you would put regular paint on them, does anyone know of a reliable answer? That's not fucking buying red or blue bulbs...

Only if you like the smell of burnt paint. You have to buy the real ones. You could buy red filters but you'd just be wasting wattage on the filtered out parts. I've seen 23w red ones, but most are 13w. Costly though huh?

Your CFLs do look good at the sale price. Cheaper than similar wattage of regular colored CFLs. A 1:1 mix of FlowerPOWER and PowerBlue would be just right, about 30% blue. I didn't notice the spectrum pics in the listing before. Set up a 1:1 grow as I mentioned and show people how good it works.
Yeah but what if you don't want to pay the high price of LEDs? Nothing wrong with using colored CFLs, just that it needs to be actual colored phosphors not just paint.
