PaintballingGuy's Grow Journal

Hey yall. I am tottly new to growing. I moved out of my mom's a couple days ago since I was able to buy my own place and not have to rent. I have all my stuff unpacked. I have chosen my room not to be the master bedroom since the master bedroom has 2 windows that you can see the hole room so I whent with the rectangel room since it has 1 window and you can't see the closet area. I will be doing a closet grow since I've never used a closet for my cloths and there's no closet doors so I can build the area to look like a closet witch works perfect. I am currently fixing up the room since it has alot of thumb tack holes in the wall and a few holes in the that that has either been punched or kicked. I didn't care what the colour of the room was since I proibly would be painting it any ways.

I have done a bunch of reading up on growing so I kinda have an idea how to do things. I chose to grow in soil since I have never growen any kind of plant and hydro would be a bit expensive to start off with. I chose to go with CFLs for veg and flowering since they are cheep here and I don't have to deal with any wireing for bulbs and such.

My friends and family don't know that I will be growing so only I know that I'm growing and I never plan on telling anyone that I'm growing since the #1 rule is ... Loose lips sink ships.

I will be updating my journal once every day and how the progress of my room is going and the steps I did to build my grow area.

Hey, Thanks. Yes , I feel safer having my own place insted of renting since the landlord can just come in when ever they want and renting a place with a nother person can and will cause problums so I perfer to play it safe. Cool thanks , 1 thing that I will be getting since its way easer to find now is mylar (spelling?). A new hydro store opened up just down the road and has mylar that is 96% reflective. I would go with a grow tent but don't have the space any where so that was an automatic no go. I will proibly have pics of my room that I will be growing in but the desk , et-center , bed and such won't be staying since I will also be building new ones.

yea it is cool , they also sell 600w HPS and MH and 1,000w HPS and MH. I might want to try to figure out how to mix the liquid food that are like 1-0-0 , 0-0-1 and such and if the will work for soil growing as well as hydro. Its nice that I can ride my bike or walk down there get the stuff I need then bike / walk back home and all I have to do is to bring my backpack with me so its not gonna make people wonder what's going on since there is a MTF , corner store around the hydro store to so its all good

are you doin hydro? if so, i dont know how much help i can be, but i will still watch. ya havin to order all the good shit online is a real bitch, i guess thats why so far i only have a hps and have never bought a MH light, i have actually found that cfl's work great for vegging and adding blue spectrum along with side lighting during flower though and they are a hell of alot cheaper than an MH light or the dual bulb HID systems.

No I'm doing soil , I jsut don't know if I can use the liquid plant food for plants growen in Soil. Yea , the 600 watt HPS is almost $90 with tax and the 600 MH is almost $80 with tax then a balast on top of that that is about $100 or so. So CFL is way cheeper to buy since you can get 10 15w CFLs for under $15 wih tax.

ya but with cfls you do need sockets and reflectors help alot too so its a little more than that and in my humble opinion is the best way to veg and like i said add cheap blue light during flowering

there's no need to buy reflectors if I'll be using 96% reflective mylar unless if I took the CFLs put them on a tracker and built a custom reflector witch could work

well im not a diy'er so i get the reflectors at lowes for 7 bucks and get a y socket for them, i have seven of them right now with two 26w bulbs each, in my veg closet i have four of them and i just screwed four hooks to the shelf and tied a small rope to each and the clamps on the lights make for really easy light adjusting, the other three i have are actually clamped on to various pipes and objects in my basement for side lighting and that works great for the lower bud sites as well. the thing is if you do go with cfl and even if you have mylar on the walls, without a reflector there will still be a good amount light that is going in the opposite direction of your plant which is just wasteful, when working with cfl lights you want to maximize your light potential down to every last drop
