Overwatering then Underwatering?

Real quick, yesterday, my girl was in a 2gallon bucket, she has been there for just over 2 weeks. I noticed her fan leaves on the bottom were starting to look wavy, kinda what I assumed over watering would look like, healthy, just rigid. So I put her in the homer bucket with the roots just being able to touch the water. Problem is, today it seems like she isn't getting enough water. The pure white roots at the bottom are now darker (The little that can touch the water) while the top area of the root is dry. I poured more res water into the res, but not sure really how much water is supposed to cover the root area... Help before I fuck something up please. :wall:

If I put a few more air stones in, should I just go back to the 2gal?

Any input? Really don't want to screw this up already. Everythings been going good, just worried about the dry roots. Just top fed to help a little and splashed the roots with some water.

they will be fine,
toss in another airstone if you switched to a larger container.
the roots will grow into the water as they need it and search for it... you dont want to fill the entire bucket, just enough to have the bottom half roots suspended in the top layer of water

the nutrients will change the color of the roots as well... unless you have root rot...
