Out of the bag miracle grow PH 7.5 ?????

i bought a 10 doller ph meter and its saying my miracle grow soil has a ph of 7ish???? but the moist meter and light meter seem to be working fine so i dont think its broken. Its saying my ph is high on everything i try. Can anyone exlplain?
 
perhaps you should buy a calibration solution. Usually comes with two different solutions that have different ph's. You can check to see if your ph meter is accurate or not from them. Most hydro stores carry them, as well as pool stores.
 
What is good ph 5 to 6? If mine is like 7.5 how bad will that be for the plant? oh anyone know of any good household ph down recipies?
 
idk about using a 10 dollar PH tester, all of the decent testers ive looked at were around 150.00 US for the lower end.
 
Its the best they had at lowes... I knew it wasnt going to be exatly accurate but it should work good for what im using it for. Any advice for a quick fix to lower the ph. Has to be safe and easy to find. You help what be greatly appreciated thanks Lemon Lime meaby?
