The Grand Old Putin party is trying to completely privatize our election system and some of these systems have no paper back up for verification and no real oversight. Some of these systems are owned by Russians, let that sink in. How can anyone defend setting up a unverifiable election system based on for profit companies owned by foreign nationals with little oversight?

It's apparently not "old news" to the state of Maryland.

The software vendor ByteGrid LLC — which hosts portions of the State Board of Elections systems — was purchased by a Russian investor in 2015 without the knowledge of Maryland state officials, election officials announced Friday.

The FBI told state and election officials that ByteGrid LLC is financed by Altpoint Capital Partners, whose fund manager is Russian and whose largest investor is a Russian “oligarch,” according to a statement by the Maryland State Board of Elections

Ive known about a lot of this stuff for a long time but didn't know the depth of it. I remember thinking it was a bad idea the first time I saw them being used long ago, especially after finding out the software was not vetted independently. It's a bad idea to have for profit companies involved in elections and it's insane to have those companies owned or controlled by foreigners.

So, let me recap the debate:

Capn and Travis posted stuff about the recent finding in Maryland that Russian made software is part of their ballot counting system.

tty and Cannahbruh are posting right wing propaganda to deflect this news into some historical drama and blaming Obama. It's always about their hate for Democrats. They will be blaming Obama for global warming pretty soon.

Some facts before the denials from tty and canabrew begin:

Trump's campaign colluded with Russia. Trump knows it, the FBI knows it, the CIA knows it, the Republican Party knows it, the entire United States know it and whe world know it. Ever since taking control of government, Republicans have been deflecting and dithering to delay any effort to stop Russian interference in the mid-terms. Maryland is but the first state to come public with the new to them knowledge that Russia has a hand in their electoral system.

Yet tty and cuntabrew blame Obama.
