Other types of jars...

I was going to try with cherry jars but I cant seem to get the cherry smell out of the lid. I may put a nug or two in it and see if they smell like cherries

kingcronic, make sure EVERYTHING is outta the jar and lid... this is the most crucial time of the grow and u would hate to fuck up this late in the game..

i was reading a thread from someone who used old pasta sauce jars and now there bud is all moldy (they didnt get the moisture and stuff off of the lid)

honestly i would pop for the 10 bucks and get brand new jars, theyll last forever,...

Any jar with a good seal works well, I use baby food jars. You need to get the smell out though, especially from candle jars. To do this, make a thick baking soda paste with water and work it all over the inside of the jar and let it sit for a day or more, then rinse; the smell will be gone and will not transfer to anything inside the jar.

If you or a friend has a dishwasher I'd highly recommend cleaning them that way.

The water in a dishwasher goes up to about 75°C and there's no way you're doing that in your sink ;)

yeah for sure lol, thanks to everyone who chimed in. About the 75'c temp, the water from my sink burn's my hands and face quite a bit, to the point of steam. Will make the baking soda paste and boil some water to rinse it out.

any jar works. like they said it just has to be clean. and dry. if its water tight i would say its prretty air tight. its not like its under pressure or anything.

I use the 2 gallon glass pickle gars. I wash them good and put PLASTIC wrap on the top then put the lid on incase there is anything still on the lid. Never had a mold problem
