Organic sources of K? Earth Juice Meta K?

I know about kelp, but it seems to contain a pretty low amount of K, same with bat and bird guanos. What do you all use to get enough K to your plants organically? Anybody try the Earth Juice Meta K product?

Not having a current K problem, just been wondering about this for a while.

i use the EJ line it does not pack the punch of synthetic organc fertz but the plants can handle very well i say as far as the meta k i would only use this if u need a high amount of K for deficiency corrections ur veg and bloom fertz should have all the k u need the one i suggenst getting is micro nutes alot of fertz dont have good micro nutrient values

technaflora's soluble seaweed is 1-1-16, i use 1tsp/5gal a few times in flower. protekt is 0-0-3 i use it beginning to end, kelp meal is also amended in the mix, otherwise pretty much what purple said "ur veg and bloom fertz should have all the k u need"

I USED to use Meta-K, but now I MUCH prefer ProTekt from Dyna Gro, 0-0-3.

It's fine for organics and the silica supplement with the 3% K just works great. I'm much happier with this than the 20% K of the EJ. Just a bit too easy to over do it.

It's easy enough to overdo the much milder Protekt. I only use 1/4tsp/gallon of water every other watering or so.

Cost ~$15/qt shipped.

Molasses is great. from wikipedia....Blackstrap molasses is a source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron; one tablespoon provides up to 20% of the daily value of each of those nutrients...use an unsulphered blackstrap molasses. And if you didn't know unsulphered blackstrap molasses is used as a standard bacteria food....

check this out too... http://www.bfa.com.au/Portals/0/BFAFiles/AUT05-bioactive-materials.pdf

Insect frass and bat guano have potassium as well
This is where people get screwed up.

Yes, 1tbl provides up to 20% of the daily value .... for a human adult.

If you consider these amounts in terms of plant nutrition, the amounts are so negligible they aren't even worth considering.

It's a good bacteria food, not a nutrient.

Most organic sources are very low in K. For example, my Seabird guano is 12-11-2. Plenty of N and P, not much K. Kelp and the seaweeds are usually the best bet along with hardwood ash, but that can be tricky and easy to over apply.

No experience with frass.

right...that's for humans but just to show...molasses has K. As far as frass it's n-p-k is 2-2-2. You really don't need to go excessive with K but Kelp, molasses will be just fine..

if you're doing super soil (like me)...add some cut up banana peels while its cookin'...there's some extra K in that too. There's also a recipe for a banana peel tea in this organic section too..sorry i don't have a link

There's a EJ 0-0-7 Meta-K that works nice and gooey . I never heard of 20% Meta K.

Take an ear of corn. Eat the corn. Take the corn cob, maybe let it dry. Put the cob in a metal pan and cook it on the grill so it burns. What is left is corn cob ash. Super source of K. 0-0-25. Dilute it and be careful. Unless you'd rather buy Dr. Rrog's Super-DuperK, in which case I'll gladly do it for you and put it in a neon-labeled black bottle.

Please excuse the sarcasm, no disrespect. Just some ribbing is all that was intended.

I use Guano's pretty exclusively for my tea's and lately I have been supplimenting my K with Humboldt Deuce Deuce. Its 0-0-22. I mix 1/2 tbsp per 5 gallons of tea.

You are correct. My mistake. Made me go dig out the bottle.

MY EJ Meta-K ...... 0-0-10 K2O Derived from sulfate of potash
Dyna-Gro Protekt ..... 0-0-3 K2O Derived from potassium Silicate

No experience with the 0-0-7 Meta-K
