I just finished throwin sunshine mix 4 in the ground (MIX.., not soil) and I also have some farmers blend compost which I havent thrown in with the mix yet. I'm wonderin if I should even use it? I got the bag of compost for free from superstore so if I don't use it its no big deal. I'm wonderin what is a good fert. to toss in my mix? I was thinkin desert and cave bat guano but I can't seem to find it, Any other suggestions to use in a mix?

Please Ignore ignorant advice...

As far as the compost, do it! Sunshine mix, if I am not mistaken (I have never worked with it) is a peat-based mix, with very little or no nutrients. Compost will do wonders for your plants in this case. Does the compost have any information included? Do you know the NPK??? It is probably a high-nitrogen compost mix, especially if given this time of year. Try to mix it in with your Sunshine mix, and if you can get some Guano.... do it. It is not a bad idea to get it in your initial mix, but it also works well as a top dressing for flowering (sprinkle it on top of your soil in mid-late summer/early fall) and in teas. I am speaking of course of high-phosphorous guano; but high-nitrogen guano is a great soil amendment as well. It can be a great substitute for blood meal as well, as it does not attract animals.

So, as far as the compost goes, I would say go for it! It is hard to burn your plants with most organic nutrients (although it is very possible with many), so you probably can't do harm with even the hottest compost blends.

heres a suggestion, get synthetic it works better

Synthetic only (arguably) works better if you are too lazy/stupid to take the time to figure out how the plant works, and how to properly feed it. Please don't try to dissuade organic growers just because you are not willing or able to grow organic yourself. Some of us have seen the difference; and organic is well worth considering. I helped a friend grow organic while I did a chemical grow last grow. i threw away my FF Grow Big and Tiger Bloom. His guano eating ladies were like hand-rolled macaroni and fine white-cheddar to my Kraft Mac'n'cheese.

if ya carnt get bat shit try chicken shit is easy to get hold of dont try get ya own carnt use fresh buy from garden center

im not into the chicken shit I like the fast acting bat guano and id like to find desert for vegging and cave for flowering but like i said i cant find it, also i dont think i came by any chicken shit either in any store, I could drive to the hydro stores but they are a bit far to drive. As for the compost there is no rating on it and almost no info on the bag which is why i dunno, but i will give it a go. Where has anyone seen this guano I'm wondering.. home depot, wal mart? any sort of big variety stores like these?

My plant's about 3 weeks old, and I just bought the nutes you can see in the pic. They're from Biobizz and the guy at the growshop suggested them! I'll use them next time I water.

Cheers...

I have heard great stuff about BioBizz. As far as where to get guano, you might have to look a little further than just a home improvement store. If you have a good garden/nursery store, they will definitely have it. Otherwise, hydro stores will probably have a nice selection as well. My hydro store has a wall of guano. Guano is a little bit more of a specialty item, but you should be able to find it. Try going to some more garden-specific stores.

I found a hydro store right beside me which is weird, I went to home depot and I'm sure they knew why i was there so they pointed me in the right direction but they didnt have the guano, had everything else though, didnt even know I had a hydro shop right close to me. Anyway i ended up goin to walmart and gettin a couple bottles of this tetra stuff called worm poop well see how it works out, pretty much the only organic fert. in wal mart, its a lawn fertilizer but Im sure it will work nicely.
