Organic Dwc Hydro Nutes, Help!?!?

im trying to do a deep water culture, or a vertical wick method of hyrdo, and i was wondering if i could use food scraps, ex:banana, kale, seaweed, ketchup, and such to make a tea? what are your thoughts? i want a potent, but fairly easy to care for setup. i already have a 2 section box, fan, and im getting the air pump today and new light bulbs. i'd like to know soon if there's a better way to do this, or a cheap organic veg mix, with a follow up bloom mix. where can i get something cheap for cash? what type is the best bang for the buck.
i also wondered if the spiral twist-in flourescent bulbs would work just to get my seedlings up and running? i might consider transplanting to the outdoors.. unsure.
