Grow outdoor in NW Oregon for MANY years. Don't use photo's at all any more because the auto's have gotten so much bigger and stronger. When I grow them in the ground in organic compost, I use one of those picnic umbrellas in a buried plastic pipe if it's going to rain and I'm still harvesting. Mostly though, I like very large, plastic tree pots. The large pots give auto's plenty of room for their explosive roots but still allow me to move them. If I'm still harvesting in the fall and rain is coming, I can group them together under a picnic umbrella. Dinafem and several other seed shacks now have some pretty consistent XL autos that grow to about 4 or 5 feet tall. The quality is AMAZING. When I harvest bud colas that are peaking, the lower buds spring into explosive growth. I can keep harvesting them into the fall. One plant is usually a handful of harvests for me and will end up with several ounces of puffable perfection. I'm growing Berry Bomb, AK49, Original Berry, Haze XXL, and too many phenotypes of GSC to ever try again. I's Sept 2nd and I have plenty harvested, dried and curing already.

I am really liking the development of the Cannatonic and this particular pheno.
I am happy with the DJ short Blueberry but it just isn't developed like the Cannatonic...yet!

Cheers

My 2 plants are proceeding slowly and boringly. Week 3 and 4 under their respective belts. Photos in another month.
I'm right there with ya, most of mine are gonna go well into Oct as usual.
Most of what I have outside exposed are higher CBD plants that I'm gonna turn into oil.
If I have to chop early I think I'll still be ok. I might have two that will finish close to the first half of the month.
Cookie Wreck definitely my farthest along..._DSC3255.JPG

The Deputy has really been stepping it up, still middle of Oct I suspect for a finish..._DSC3276.JPG
The others just aren't there yet.

Well I truly hope that all of our slow growers finish disease free. This has just been one hard yr with lots of obstacles for many growers.
Yours look great though.

If I ever grow outdoors again, it will be 100% autos (at least as long as I live in this location). Grew them this year and I was done by the end of August. Had one auto go crazy and produce over a pound. The worms have gotten worse every year, they are out of control here so I'm done with outdoor, but I would recommend any Oregon grower who is growing for themselves (and doesn't need several pounds just to get by) to look into autos.

Or a Greenhouse... I grew out 4 nice autos last season. All of them looked and smelled really good, just weak sauce. Maybe it's because I've been smoking weed for 50 years and toke from morning to night the last 8. Or I just grow good potent weed and I'm used to it, dunno but autos aren't there for me yet.

I've been talking about a greenhouse for years, hasn't happened yet. Still might, so many projects to do. Even if I do build one, I'd still grow autos in it. There is nothing like being done with the season before all the dampness and overcast begins. Even if I can keep the rain out, there are going to be humid cool mornings that would make a great environment for PM.

I hear you on the weakness, the ones I grew last year were sampled and rejected, they went straight into the hash pile, that's a good way to concentrate whatever potency they possess. This year we grew some Mephisto strains, and they are supposed to be comparable to photos (they claim THC on some in the 20+% range). Another month or so of curing and I'll let you know how they do. My wife (the med patient) has only been smoking for about 35 years, but she's got a pretty intense tolerance too, so the bar is set pretty high.

One thing I've found in trimming them is that they are not very dense bud structures. Once I dialed in my drying space, they dry evenly and because the buds "breath" they don't need much burping at all. That's kind of nice.

I absolutely could not finish a crop in my GH without a dehumidifier, cooling, heat when needed and a sunscreen.
Just throwing plastic over hoops doesn't cut it for us here in the conditions that you and I live.
Mine is small 10x14 built from 8mm polycarb sheets, all intake vents are covered as to keep moths out. I've never had a bud worm in my GH runs. I still spray neem during veg for the mites and thrips.
It was a spendy venture in the start, around $2500 to build and equip. I can pretty steadily get 3 to 4lbs of top bud a season so it has more than paid for itself. Me nor anyone close to me has to buy weed anymore, and I know what I've got. Clean organic potent smoke (most of the time) that I strive for. Oregon dispensary prices are insane, there is no way to justify it. So to counter this I give a lot of mine away...need any?

Not this year, thanks, I've got way more than I need at the moment. It will be interesting to see how we do in the coming years as I try to carry us on one indoor winter grow per year. Wouldn't hurt us any if we smoked less, maybe not always having what seems like an endless supply will cause us slow down a bit.

I was thinking the same thing this morning {as I was coughing up some nasty looking shit from my lungs}. I used to burn one or two joints on a camp night. Now it's not unusual for me to smoke three or four. But when you have so many strains, it's kind of like work to test them all right?

I don't even smoke, I only eat it (bad lungs), so I make budder and tincture from some, but I haven't sampled 99% of what I've grown. Keeping track of all the strains I've grown and trying to collect feedback has been a challenge. It's mostly positive feedback, but really, who's going to complain about free pot?

My Sister has lung problems too. She makes cana-coconut oil. I make cakes and breads with it pretty often. But I only eat it when I can't smoke {like at work, or hiking in crowded places}.

Sister has been staying out in Colorado with the kid and grandkids about half the year since she retired. She eats gummy's out there, and has only gone back to smoking since she got home a couple weeks ago.

I don't have anyone to give my pot to. Everyone who knows I grow also grows, so any I give them, they give me a like amount in return. I do turn a lot of old pot into cana-coconut oil and freeze it. Not sure how long it lasts.

I know what you mean about giving it away, it's already everywhere. I have heard that there are co-ops and non-profits that gift excess to needy med patients, I need to find one and do something good with the extra this year.

Eating it is definitely a different high, both in the way it hits and lasts, and the quality of the high, something about the way the digestive system absorbs THC vs the way the lungs do. There is finally some true lab science coming out in terms of how it all works. For instance I read a study (couldn't find the one I read, but here's another article) that said that when you smoke CBD your body absorbs some of it, but when you eat it, your liver filters out most of it, and only about 6% of the CBD makes it to your bloodstream.

As far as how long frozen butter lasts, I think its a really long time. I have a block of frozen canna butter that's about 12 years old at this point, I keep making and using fresher stuff, but I can't bring myself to throw it out. I'd guess anything made with it would taste freezer burnt by now, but I'd bet the THC is still viable. But that's me guessing... at this point I have no reason to risk a box of Ghirardelli Chocolate Supreme brownie mix on an experiment...
