Crap! First Botrytis of the season, and unfortunately, it infested the primary cola on my R2 hybrid. The dense, leafy buds were probably major factors. Will probably take the whole plant down if more appears. She's probably a week away from being fully ripened so not a big loss, just disappointing.

The carport I put over 2 of the plants has held up well, so far. The wind got pretty gusty yesterday and no problems so hoping I can keep the Kilimanjaro dry until the end of October. It only appears to be at about the 4-week stage of flowering, but even with limited direct sun in my garden the thing has grown into a healthy, 9-ft monster with huge cola potential.

I spent a considerable amount of time giving these girls a haircut yesterday and I bought a real greenhouse cover for my hoop house. The 6mil poly at home depot and lowes are now made with recycled plastic and are far from clear, more of opaque greyish color. This stuff was $185 for 50x100 and is UV protected and supposed to last 4 years. I can cover this twice for the $185 so it's a better buy than $98 for the same size junk from home depot that only lasts a couple of years. White Tahoe Cookie times four this year. The only issues so far this year have been whiteflies and I think I murdered them all. Powdery mildew season will begin any day now so watch for it.
I don't know how to edit my post. The $185 I spent on greenhouse cover says 50x100 and it should say 20x100.

It's nice to see all of you still hanging around here. Looks like some new posters too. Super cool. I needed to take a break, to get other life stuff handled. Where's @Mrs. Weedstein ??? Lol.

AND, did you guys ever do a get together? I'd still be down to do something like that. Hell yeah!

So, I'm in the same boat as most of you. I was really excited about how all of the plants were doing this year. Especially after how bad last year sucked. Then the smoke came..... It was horrible here in Salem. We had tons of ash inside the house, even with all of the windows closed. The plants quit drinking, and it was like they were frozen in time. Now? F'n bud rot. Like you graying- my best buds got hammered. Junk now. I'm about done growing outside. Sure, maybe for a bit during the summer; then I'll finish them off inside. Rain. Bud rot. Caterpillars. Screw that crap.....

Hey, @medicinehuman , I've been growing some Elektra from Plain Jane in Southern Oregon. It's good stuff. ~15 to 20 CBD. Zero THC. You wanna swap some clones for your ACDC? And I still have stuff to swap with you Weedstein. Or just fricken give you. I don't care. Same goes for anyone else here. :D

Had to bring it in due to the wind the other day. Staked her up good so no worries anymore. Managed to get an okay picture, I’ve got the same issue as a few here. In the yard there’s too much greenery to get a solid photo.

It’s some Phat Panda seed I found, it’s getting pretty icey and smells like skunk.
Looking at getting a small greenhouse for what I’m sure is upcoming rain.

here in Vancouver the smoke was horrible. I’m glad it’s mostly gone here.. hope y’all all stay/stayed safe.

I especially put up a hoophouse but still got fucking bud rot. Definitely discouraging especially after the whole season had gone well. I will be cutting it away as I find it and hopefully still end up with a decent amount of mature seed. It’s almost there and the weather looks clear for the time being.

This year and last year have been the worst for bud rot. It's so sad to have to trash what would be the best buds. I'm finding this time of year very stressful having the cannabis and our vineyard of 330 vines all coming due at the same time, each with their own perils. Worms and rot for the cannabis and yellow jackets, birds and raccoon's for the grapes.

Today is the day I early harvested last year. The gray had set in to 10% of my buds and the wetness was here to last, so I pulled the plug.
This week we are having perfect weather and I see nothing creeping, so hoping for a couple more weeks.
Aside from the atmospheric blessing, this year I have been tenting the girls nightly and when it rained last week with a simple umbrella because they are ~6' tall and my strategy is to just shield from overnight dew... have no real idea just how much this helps/works (feedback welcome), but so far so kind... good luck to all!

Looking good but keep an eye out for botrytis. Jesus — I was so happy with how cozy my plants were looking under the hoophouse, right up until I saw that sickly gray mold.

I should still get a decent seed crop so I can’t complain too much about the actual crop. The problem is I thought the hoophouse would finally end my bud rot problems. Bit the bullet and spent $300 plus labor, and still this shit.

Sorry, just bitching but I fucking hate bud rot!

Guys, I am in the same boat. We have a creek in our backyard. It just naturally funnels air through there. I mean, seriously. Tons of air. Massive wind. My plants get so much airflow through them. However, we did still get bud rot. A bunch. It just kills me to see it, when things were going so good. Fuckin 2020. What's next??? Bring it on, bitch..... Lol

Seriously though- about a Month ago, I saw 3, 1/2" long green caterpillars on my buds. I killed them, and then saw 3 more a couple days later. I had remembered that chick (dr.trichrome???) saying to use pyrethin. No more bugs. Still, I got bud rot. It did start where I found the caterpillars. Coincidence, or is this our real issue?

I'm asking. Tossing it out there....

I haven’t noticed any caterpillars on mine but I could easily understand how them chewing shit up would create plenty of opportunities for the fungus to gain hold...

Yeah, I gotta join the chorus on the Botrytis situation. Mine has only gotten worse. I took down the R2 hybrid on Sunday that developed an infection earlier and ended up loosing ~20%. Then, yesterday, I was admiring the top cola on my 8' Durban and to my horror spotted a gray spot close to the top. Unable to get close enough for inspection -- rule #26: Don't grow 8' plants when you're only 5'5" -- I ended up harvesting the top 20" and losing 6" to the rot. Heartbreaking; it was the most beautiful cola... sob...

Despite dry weather and weekly applications of neem, peroxide and K-bicarb, I've never had a year like this for the gray scourge. The weather couldn't have been better or drier, but the shit still crept in. A bit counterintuitive but I'm starting to wonder if the smoke might have created a more favorable environment for the fungus when it permeated the buds.

I do have to admit, I think I pee'd a little bit when I saw the weather forecast with 80' weather and no rain for the next 10 days. Stack on the bud!

Thanks again for all the feedback/tips. Paranoid self had to do a full inspection, and so far no signs. I feel fortunate to have gotten started with much help from the crew at Bloom Garden Supply here in PDX - not only for turning me on to the Roots Organics program, but particularly with Lost Coast's Plant Therapy (https://www.lostcoastplanttherapy.com/pages/how-it-works). Realizing that as a craft hobbyist I can afford to use these relatively expensive products, and that probably wouldn't be cost effective for many. Even on spot applications, I see insect carcasses and it knocks down PM fast.

I posted a tickler last year to see if there was any interest and got bupkis for responses. We can try again this year, but with the pandemic it'll have to be outside. Any ideas? Anyone?

I am all about swapping seeds and clones and it seem silly that we all haven't connected to do so. Rollitup seems explicit in prohibiting swaps so another venue is probably appropriate. My handle on freecannabis.com is Varinaut, if any of you Oregonians are up for some fem Durbans & hybrids.[/QUOTE]

2 coming down tomorrow due to rot. Luckily the bigger ones seem pretty resilient so far
Do you guys think the ash has anything to do with how bad the bud rot is this year?

I initially shrugged it off but that ash got EVERYWHERE and I could see that shit working itself into crevices and causing moisture buildup, etc.

Just a thought for you, for next year. I mean, at least you wouldn't have to worry about falling off a ladder....

I totally would be good with a get together. Not until this pandemic shit is handled though. We have a family member in the house that will 100% croak, if they get it. We even have all of our groceries delivered, and wipe them all down with alcohol before they come in the house. Excessive, but the person is worth it. I may as well have been in jail for the last 6+ months.

I agree that we are all missing out on trying different strains. I have non-feminized Gorilla Glue #4, and Gods Gift seeds. Will have clones of the CBD Elektra. I'll check out your site, but honestly- if I am meeting any of you, I have no problem giving out my email, or talking with texts. Whatever is the easiest.
