OIT has a relatively new bachelors degree plan that started in 2005. It's called an RES (Renewable Energy Systems) degree. Basically it teaches all about wind, solar, geothermal, and other forms of renewable energy. I'm really interested in this, but going back to school at 25 is a little daunting. Does anyone know anything about this degree, have friends at OIT, or just have an opinion in general?

What are the job prospects like? To me that is the most important factor when considering post-secondary education.

hard to say really. The degree is not yet accredited because they haven't even had a graduating class. However, certain states like New York are demanding that 10-30% of their energy comes from renewable resources, so it can be assumed that people with the knowledge of how to operate and maintain these systems will be in high demand.
