ordering shrooms

I ordered some "BFR bags" from ebay and some spores form micro-supply (which I saw mixed reviews about). I already see the mycelium growing after 2 days, just barely, but there's definitely white stuff in there, well, in 3 of the 4 bags.

$65 and I got way more spores than I needed (calculations were... complete fail). If it works I"ll just get more bags or, some bigger bags. idk. I plan on making a thread if all goes well.

I looked at those boxes though... too expensive and not in the US so it probably takes a while. Those boxes you linked too are entirely too expensive, I bet shipping isn't too cheap either.

10 syringes lol... good luck bro

nah youll do great, just dont do them all at once.. set up your control and make some variables if you know what i mean so you know what went wrong if anything does

the appeal of the boxes to me is that the mycelium is already developed. All they need doing is some cold water shocking and placing in a grow bag. Ive never eaten shrooms and never grown any or know anyone who has. Im sure that gettin syringes is a great idea if you plan on gettin multiple harvest to share with mushrom loving friends but me or my friends are not part of that culture...yet. That said ive done research on growing your own mycelium (ill need to fork out money on jars, pressure cooker, syringes...which still may not even germinate from a novice) and i would much rather just buy a box and get a few flushes out of it, which will probably last me a year lol i really dont plan on making a regular thing its just for a try. And im not in the USA, so yeah its prob not a good idea for you guys :/ who knows, but for me and my situation its great :)

With the bags and syringes you don't need to buy jars, pressure cooker, syringes (they come with the spores). The bags are already sterile. And I get where you're coming from, but for me, idk, it seems like it'd be hard to learn much with those boxes. I wanna, have a hand in things, you know? Try and figure out what works, what doesn't, as to make things easier for myself in the future.

But if you never ate shrooms, yeah, idk, lol, getting the box and trying them once may not be a bad idea.

itd be cool if you never tripped before but like you said, i like the learning process of shit, like herbs and shrooms haha.. i just like to learn as much as i can so i can get better and better progressively. with that grow box thing or whatever i see it as kinda like over paying for shrooms that you have a chance of messing up, first grow.. never know what will happen, thats where the fun in fungus comes from lol

hmmmmm i never knew that! I guess ive got alot more to learn....sohow do the bags and syringes work? have u got a good link? My understanding of the process at the moment is that you get sterlised jars/containers, fill them with substrate like brown rice flour or popcorn or something, and then inject the spores with the syringe and then just leave the mycelium to develop....and then you tip the 'cake' out onto a layer of vermiculite, in a big box, to keep the moisture level up. and then seal the big box/bag and wait for the shrooms to rise. I cant really picture doing the whole process with just a syringe and bags (ive only seen a couple of bad quality vids and also a thread in shroomery.org) Thanks

and as far as im aware, one of the hardest things is to keep the whole grow sterilised from start to finish......which is why the boxes appealed to me because everythings already been done by professionals, just add water, you dont even need to take anything out of the box

guess im a sucker for fast-food :P but yeah the whole 'grow your own' thing is really interesting to me, and if i like the high of shrooms, i can see myself getting deep into the home growing process

way cheaper........im worried what im gonna do........my bedroom gonna look like frikin ferngully in a month. As i said im not in USA so this shop will be a better bet for me i rekon

I can't vouch for this place or the bags or anything (my first time), but I can tell you what I got and summarize what I did. I'm only a few days after inoculation, but I can update you as things progress.

I got these bags

http://www.out-grow.com/index.php?m...oducts_id=65&zenid=1k2ng40mbdr9784aoa2b2phgj2

I bought them through ebay, they were a little cheaper (6 for $25).

They come with the substrate in them already and is allegedly sterile, like I said, I'll update as my trial goes forward.

I got spores from

http://www.micro-supply.com/mushrooms.htm

I ordered on a Sunday, got everything that Tuesday. So I can vouch for their shipping anyways, lol.

This is where I fucked up (cause, idk, I didn't do any reading really, until after I had ordered everything). Each syringe has 12cc of spore solution. You only need 2cc-4cc per bag. I thought you needed one per bag.

I used 4 bags, one with 4cc, two with 3cc, and one with 2cc.

Here's a guide on how to inoculate the bags.

http://www.out-grow.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=5&zenid=1k2ng40mbdr9784aoa2b2phgj2

Idk if it's gonna work or not, but there you go. That's what I did. Got them in my basement at a steady 73degrees.

The trick as far as I can tell is trying to do everything as perfect and sterile as possible and hope you get it right.

Hopefully it works. I'm not even sure how much to expect to be honest (if it does work). I figure I'll do it like this, and eventually get all the equipment (jars, pressure cooker, etc.) if I really enjoy it. It's definitely cheaper that way, but it's fairly cheap with the bags too, especially if it actually works.

You may be able to use 1 syringe between six bags even. I've heard some people say only use .25cc per hole on a jar, and they use 4 holes on a jar, so that's 1cc of spore solution. I think it just takes longer for the mycelium to grow fully.

That site has a lot of other types of substrates and whatever too. I didn't know what to pick so, went for the cheapest really.

And, I realize you're not in the states, lol, but I'm fairly certain all those bags work in about the same manner (some have "self healing" inoculation points). They have expensive "name brand" ones. But, i figured I'd give those a try first, and since i have so many spores left I can get something else if they don't work.

I have a horrible camera but here are a couple pics 7 days after inoculation. I don't see growth in 1 of my 4 bags though. It also look like it's the driest of all the bags.

Ok i know its been about a month since i posted this thread but ive finally done it and ordered a myceliumbox combi pack. I havent got the time or space to do the whole spores thing. So ive ordered

1x treasure coast
1x thai ban Hua
1x orissa India

Ill put a linkk up here, and ill add one to my sig, once i get them going. Im just gonna chuck them in with my ultra lemon haze plants coz it should be around 23oC ambient temps on the floor, and they should be shaded well from the direct light.

If you haven't read the rest of the thread, the mycelium box is basically a previously inoculated box of spores and growing medium/nuterients. It needs to be soaked with cold water, drained then placed in a grow bag. I chose this method coz im a lazy fuck, and because the mycelium is already developed i don't have to be so careful not to cause contamination. Ive never grown or even tried mushrooms before. I got these strains because they are strong lol gonna start on just a gram dried with my friends and freeze the rest once dried
