Hey everyone,

I'm new to these forums. I'm going to be starting my first grow in a 2x4 grow tent. I've been doing lots of research on LED lights and I am curious if anyone has any experience with the Optic 1XL COB LED lights.
I've seen alot of reviews on the optic 1, but not much on the optic 1 XL. Looking to purchase 2 of these for my grow. Just seeing if anyone has any insight on these lights.

Thanks fellas.

Overpriced as hell. $250 for a single CXB3590 at 100w? No thanks! You could DIY that thing for less than $100.

The whole optics thing is a gimmick to give good PPFD results on the floor. For your plants though, they just eat photons (up to about 10%), reduce unformity to a turd, and cause bleaching. In a grow tent/reflective area, you want naked LEDs, preferably hung as high as possible without the PPFD drooping too low for optimal uniformity and canopy penetration.

edit: to clarify, think of it this way. The PPFD doesnt mean a whole lot. The amount of photons the light puts out is what is going to affect your yields. So if the optics are eating 10% of all the photons AND are causing stress on your plants, your yields will be much lower. Optics are ONLY, and I repeat ONLY acceptable if in an open ended space where the photons would otherwise not hit your plants.

Check out ledgardener.com. Great diyled resource. And of course growmau5 on youtube. I got a great build in my sig that can be adapted for your 2x4 area as well!
