Ive just transplanted a plant in a tiny pot of coco peat to a net pot with hydroton. Do you guys think i will end up with root rot or fungus gnats etc? There is about an inch of hydroton on bottom of net pot and about an inch of it surrounding the coco. I have the bottom of net pot touching water/nutes. Has anyone ever done this?

hey man how's it going? just for future reference sticking your (assuming) cube of coco peat straight into the hydroton is how it's done! exact same as rockwool cube if not better.
the only way you'll get some sort of nasty mould or whatever is if it stays constantly wet, which it shouldn't as you have plenty of hyrdoton pebble surrounding it by the sounds of it. and to keep the rootrot away keep that res nice and clean, cold and the water nicely airated (i use a 1500L p/h pump for 2x 50L res', some might say it's overkill, i say it's the shit.) Keep the water level just under a inch below the netpot til the first few roots appear then you're right to let it drop a full inch or 2. goodluck!

peace.

Hey, cheers mate. All looking good! Coco has dried right up and there is heaps of roots dangling down now wooo!!!
