Hi
I am planing a light using 10 Bridgelux Gen7 Vero 29 cobs ( 37.7V 4.2A max) on two 40" X 5.886" heatsinks from Heatsink USA. 12.312" X 40" = 1612 sq. in. at 17 sq"/ Watt these should be good for 95W. These will be driven by two Meanwell HLG-185H-C1050Bs ( 190V 1.05A 200W). 5 cobs will be on each sink with three 3500Ks at the centre and end positions and a 4000 and 5000 taking the positions between the centre and ends.

Is it good to drive a cob rated at 4.2A max at only 1.05A ? I understand underdriving but is this too much?
I will be using these on a 2 x 4 grow for now but would like the option to maybe go to a 4 x4 tent in future.
Thanks

Youre fine. In fact better than running them close to full. Your spectrum looks a bit veg oriented. Id add some 90 cri cobs, and if you wanna stick with 3500k then you dont need 5000k, even for full cycle.
Full cycle is a must have. I did not think plants cared about cri. I chose the 3500s for flower taking the place of HPS and the 4s and 5s adding to the spectrum for veg taking place of MH and to balance things out for ME (I don't like the colour of HPS when working around the plants). I am very new to LEDs, color temps, cri, etc. as you can see.

I never heard of Luminus. I started out looking at Crees but but then found Bridgelux at roughly $20 per cob less doing more or lees the same thing. I will look at them.

I would.mix two 4ks in 80cri and three 3500ks in 90cri. The 90cri on the 35s gives you a better red spike. And the two 4ks in 80 give you a touch of blue for veg. And the 35s veg excellent as is. I wouldnt use the 5k at all. I'd do 35k 4k 35k 4k 35k
