first off let me apologize I wasn't quite sure how to categorize this...

anyways I live in a big city, and there is not a store within 2 to 3 hours from me, recent legislation has promised for medical to go through and is attempting to push recreational, which is looking better and better everyday. either way business will pick up in the rive in the next year or two. but I was curious if anybody has any suggestions such as being able to get a line of credit with hydro farm? or would all the start up have to be out of my pocket?

A store front is no issue or concern, I also have the time, my concern is how to go about finding a wholesaler, I emailed Hydrofarm this morning, but any other suggestions from anybody out there would be greatly appreciated as I know many of you probably have your own stores.

Thanks brothers,

Peace, love n respect!

not a bad idea. not much competition locally. ebay and amazon are tough to compete against pricewise though.

how much capital you got?

I wish you the best of luck! Been a dream of mine too, and yeah. Getting some equip on consignment would help a lot. Sorry I cant really answer your question.

Well the people who push their product cannot pay for.amazon purchases with cash so this keeps the mom and pops a float

10 grands no issue lol... I have family who has a store front, there getting old and there is talk about them selling it or renting it out when they retire soon, I know I could easily get my hands on it.

of course I have financial backing, my ladies lol...

now as far as internet sales I know they can be quite a hassle but that's what I was thinking as far as initial business, even silly things like building manifolds for aero cloners, I only seen one guy on ebay who does that, I could be wrong but beat his price and you take all his business... I got quite a few more as well, honestly arrow cleaners in general in very expensive online very cheap to make yourself lol...

Now, one thing I was considering was the attention, I don't need negative attention at all, not so much the police as I have family who are patrol officers, but in a general sense, I don't want to label me as that guy as i have other endeavors...

now I can probably come up with 20 grand easily, more if I take out a home equity loan or I could just ask my ladies lol...

I don't know it was just a thought, seems like it would be quite lucrative interstate like mine where there is no store, right around the time they change the laws over in the years following.

does anybody have anything more specific about getting a line of credit in what they would actually give me back in their procedure?

I'm trying to make contact with hydrofarm now, email hasn't been the way to go I'm going to call them in the next few weeks. I have plenty of time at these politicians tend to take there's...

any information is appreciated,

Thanks!

This is something Ive considered as I get older. Im getting a little long in the tooth for ladders and roof work. Good luck and keep us updated

R&M re-opened under new name? Fuck them!
I would never buy a CAP product ever again, even with hydrofarm in charge now. Think autopilot;-)

most wholesalers require a large first order, I think hydrofarm is 25 grand, sunlight around $50 grand. if you don't have that. they won't even talk to you. There are chinese wholesalers and other franchise type companies that will get you going. I also heard hydrofarm will try and control your business and only want you to sell their products. Maybe hit up @pkBoosted2 who owns a store in Boston, or @941mick who works part time at one.

no, they were bought by hydrofarm and hydrofarm kept anything worth a shit and dumped everything else.
Yeah Chuck, I new bout hydrofarm buying the CAP brand. ;-)
I still won't buy any CrAP devices anymore. Well, except the remaining value line fans I find/need. They aren't bad. Still run a couple ppm2's.
But screw CAP devices! :-D
All the peice of shit devices those mother fuckers(R&m) made towards the end, left a really bad taste in my mouth.

Wouldn't hurt to have a well laid out business plan with a SWOT analysis if you're trying to get a commercial loan. The more professional you present yourself the better your chances.

Honestly, I was just considering an equity loan, I have a cheap storefront in the realitive family and a friend who owns a marketing business, Im knowledgeable, but not with organics...

Anyways, I spoke to Hydrofarm, they said 10-15k down, I get to place an order, everything's at 50-100% markup. They'll evaluate me for a line of credit after 180 days I think...

WHEN pa passes medical, its going to boom, only store I know of in eastern pa is Htg near Pittsburgh. But where I'm at, there's no where within nearly 3 hours, the markets still crazy, people pay 300-350 ounce ALL DAY LONG,

So why not start a legit business? With the right advertising scheme, you can make a million easy, off a small 50k first year investment, and if you somehow fuck it up, well, let's say the ladies would love to help ya out, plus all that equip, you cannot go wrong!

My concern is timing, timings going to play a factor in overhead, as I wouldn't want to be paying $1500 month in overhead for a building and insurance, blah blah until laws are nearly passed,

I also spoke to a co2 supplier, good deals just for a referral.
I know a lot of people and carry myself well, I just see this industry booming in the west, well its coming here, and I'm not in it for the long haul but who knows, I for see it all being monoplized within 5-10 years. But until then, there's boat loads of cash, even if you can put a small 4x4 in 1/4 homes in america, at $1k per room, thats 30 billion in sales, which is very very realistic, probably super conservative numbers... Maybe I'm talking outta my ass here, but if you don't try somebody else will!

I dunno, this Durban got me going lol...

HOW QUICKLY DID legalization HAPPEN IN OTHER STATES?

I have been thinking about buying out my local hydro store. He is kinda half assed and I keep thinking he is going to go under but he seems to be doing alright anyway. There is no way he has $25k in inventory though. He funds it with credit cards. You can get a lot of nutes to sell for $5k on a credit card. If you are in a big city with no competition you should do very well.

So far my best bet would be Hydrofarm, for 10k, I would get nearly 20k in products, there has to be somewhere better out there tho, everybody shops online now days tho too, only benefit of a hydro store is the knowledge in my opinion.

The grow shop I go to here in CO is always busy. They just opened another store locally and business seems good. People getting a little bit of everything it seems from soil/medium to nutrients, buckets, pots, sprayers, all kinds of stuff. Seems like most people get lights and ballasts online vs the stores, and some other higher priced electronics like controllers and ph meters perhaps. I have no idea what margins they are running on, but it has to be decent to expand like they have. If you want to open your own shop, you need some serious capital to stock up on supplies or have excellent credit to get vendors to put you on terms. There is lots of stuff, lots. What seems to be pretty key out here is the staff is pretty knowledgeable on how to diagnose and combat problems in the grow, and understand the various nutrient lines, products, etc. At least the guys I've run across. Some people will sell you anything and everything and most will help you get what you need. The even have workshops and teach you how to grow, clone, cure, etc. Good Stuff. On another note, Miracle Grow, (Scotts) just bought out General Hydroponics to get in on the canna market. Watch for states that are going to legalize medical or rec in upcoming 2016 elections. If you live in AK or DC, not a bad place to open up a shop. Who knows if it's a fad or what, but true to form, when a state legalizes, the citizens need a local source for equipment and knowledge, and lets face it, most smokers are going to give it a go and spend thousands doing so. I did ;)

We've had shops opening up left and right around here over the last 3 years or so..most of them seem to be backed be Hydrofarm , I'm basing that off the fact that all they usually sell is HF products. I'd say 90% of them don't make it past a yr. The ones that have stuck around generally are the small hole on the walls that have a large selection of small items( fittings, grommets, hose connections, tubing, air stones, etc.) I'd say if you can get HF to work for you go for it..just go in with a plan to get out from under them as quick as possible.

I contacted Hydrofarm about this. You need an actual storefront, a rent-a-storage unit or out of your home won't do. You also need a tax ID number and an initial purchase of $15.000 in stock.
