One of my seeds sprouted TWO plants!

Okay, well, I'm not one of those guys who has been all around and seen everything, but the other day, I noticed that one of my "Twizzler" (Kosher Tangie X Cherry Pie) seeds had TWO root tips sprouting from its seed case! And, today, it appears that there will be two separate plants….can't totally tell yet because the seed case is still attached, but there are two distinct stems developing!

So, of course, I am psyched whenever anything weird like this happens…just because I like weird things, I guess. ;)

I tried to take some pics, but my phone and the lighting making impossible to get a clear view.

What is this called? Is it the plant equivalent of an identical twin? :)

I hope it turns out to be a girl(s)!

Anyone else ever have "twin" plants sprout from a single seed?

Some lines it's common. I think Jack the Ripper is known for this happening often. Congrats though, two plants is always better than one.

i've been growing for almost two years and i think i've only had it happen once and i've been popping a lot of seeds. i still wanted to see pictures.

Yeah, like I said, my camera isn't able to take a clear picture.

But I have a question to ask (anyone)….

Is it possible that my "twins" could end up one being male and the other female?

And, IF that is possible, then what would happen if the male pollen pollinated the female flower? Would it produce seeds that would have more of a chance to make similar twins? Or, would the seed be likely to produce hermaphrodite offspring?

I apologize…I'm not up on the whole paternal, identical twin thing and how twins happen to come about. Please someone 'splain it to me! ;)

Well, heck! I thought this thread would be more interesting….lol!

Anyway, just to update you…the "twins" are not growing very vigorously. They are like twin dwarves or something! ;) But, regardless, I'm going to let them do their thing and see what comes it (them).
