One month in flower, no sign flowers...

Hello all,

I have a question, I have a few high CBD plants growing (50:50 and 20:1 CBD:THC) and they just seem to be taking their sweet time. I have been growing them since June and it seems like they just take forever to grow, which I now know the reason for and have remedied.
This is my first grow so I am a newbie.

The first problem was the PPM's weren't high enough, I was listening to this guy who posts videos on YouTube "the grow boss" and what he says is junk, the PPM’s were way too low so the plants were just sitting there with no nutrients. This guys goes on about how “the nutes don’t really matter, it’s the light that matters” what trash!!!
So the PPM's have been adjusted and the plants look so much better.

About a month ago I put the plants into flower, the lights went from 16 hours a day to 12 and I raised the PPM quite a bit.
The plants are growing just fine, I have been able to take some great clones, but they just keep "stretching" I guess is the term.
I have quite a nice hedge, but no sign of flowers.

I am running out of room in the canopy. The plants are almost touching the lights, so I have had to do high stress training to get the bigger branches away from the lights. It has really taken my fear away that this is some delicate plant.

Which brings me to the lights:
The light is a GrowMau5 4x1 250 watt COB setup.
The plants are doing great!
But there are no flowers.
I set up the LED driver to a potentiometer so I can dim the lights and I made up a scale for the dimmer from 1-12, again a throw back from that "grow boss" guy who says a grow should take 12 weeks (4 weeks veg+8 weeks flower) + 2 weeks of flush.
So because the plants are so close to the light I only have it turned to #8 which is about 150 watts, any higher and the leaves burn.

Again the plants are growing great!
Should I basically figure this grow is a loss and take some more clones and try again?
Or is this grow worth salvaging.

Also, does cannabis back bud?
If I seriously top the plants, will it grow new tops from the lower buds, like on trees?

One thing I majorly messed up with is I didn't top the plants at the first node, I didn't get to them until the third node, they have been temperamental (because of the weak ppm’s) so I didn't want to do anything that would risk killing them. Now they are so out of hand, I am bending branches and the damn thing keeps coming back, I guess that's why they call it a weed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!!

One thing I forgot to add....
Some days the smell coming from the room is overpowering, I will open the door to the room and get hit with this wall of smell others, like today no scent what so ever....

your room conditions will dictate your success. once you provide all the necessary elements to it the plants know exactly what to do.
temps, air flow/exchange/quality feed/light/proper humidity and its a hit! look into those controls for a culprit now, or to prevent one later.

I don't have any pics.
The temp is ambient temps so during the summer it was 80+ and now it is 70+ day and 60 at night.
I don't know what rh is, pH perhaps? this runs between 5.5-6.5, usually around 6.2
Nutrients are Masterblend, Calcium nitrate, and Magnesium sulfate 20-18-36

Medium is a modified bato bucket filed with hydroton, the modification is that each bucket is on it's own reservoir.

I don't have much control over the humidity here, it is always low, but this doesn't seem to effect any of my other plants, like lettuce and tomatoes...

During the summer I use silica on all my plants and this helps them cope with the heat.

Thank you xtsho,
Good thinking!!!
I do have some clones under a 20 watt LED light, about 10 feet away, this is on 24 hours.
Could this be stopping the flowering?
If this is true, I feel like total dunce...

Yeah dude you haven't even started flower yet if your out of room cut that plant an start over. Plants need 12 hours of dark to flower

try to find a green led headlamp. if you need to go into the room during lights off, it's better than white light.

You need to keep your clones and veg separate from flower. Your flower room needs to be dark during lights off or else photoperiod plants will not initiate flowering. Some people avoid this and grow auto's. I've only grown a few auto's and was unimpressed but others seem to have good success and are happy with them. It could be that I've just not grown a decent auto strain.

You're going to have to do some serious training with those plants if you're already running out of room. I would do some serious super cropping or look into SCROG. You're going to need to do something and it's better to do it now than have to deal with it later in flower with a bunch of branches covered in sticky buds.

@macsnax, @Ryante55, @rkymtnman,
I never realized the plants were so sensitive to light fluctuations like that.
Wow.
Ok, I will take some more clones, then hack down the plants and start over.

Thanks everyone!!!
You had lights on for 24 hours. That's really not a fluctuation. The intensity level might have changed but the fact that there was 24 hour light didn't. It's a setback but easily resolved. Get the clones out of there, do some serious training on those plants and keep going. Your harvest date is just extended a month.
Good luck.
