and the problem causing the yellowing is fixed...do they ever rebound or will they eventually die off?

Which leaves...new growth or the bottom fan leaves.
New growth should recover, bottom growth...maybe,depends on how bad the yellowing was.

it depends on if the cell structure of the leafe was damaged beyond repair

i've had fan leaves fade to almost white then come back to green after a good feeding.
