Ok this is my first DWC and this is the only fckn issue I'm having but I can't find the fix!!

The plants looked like they had a mag def so I added epsom salts to my rez and still no improvement after 2 days. So then I thought my PH was a bit low (5.4ish) and I thought possibly I had locked out some nutes. So now I figured hell they've been in for about 10 days I'll just do a rez change and redose everything again and make sure the PH is right at 5.8 and that should remedy it.

Nope. This is what I have 2 days after the flush still.

The new growth is still coming in strong and the roots are developing nicely. Just have these spots on the majority of the lower leaves and a couple of the mid/upper leaves have a slight amount showing too as if it's working its way up. I'm using fox farm grow big hydro n big bloom currently and dosing about 1/2 strength of their hydro feeding chart for them at 2 weeks. I'm using RO water and the temp is a constant 63-69F in the rez and about 80F in the room.

Should I cal/mag my RO water? FF nutes seem to be pretty balanced but who knows?!

Help a brotha out!
Thanks!

Anytime you are showing deficiencies and not giving full strength nutes, that's the first thing you should suspect. Not saying you should go full strength now, but obviously you aren't giving them all they need yet. Best to get a PPM meter and monitor the PPM levels over a few days, taking note at least every 24 hours. If your PPM's rise it's a good chance you are giving too many nutes, bring the water level back up and set the PPMs slightly lower. If your PPM's fall, then you aren't feeding enough, bring the water level back up and set the PPM's slightly higher.

PH should be thought of as a range, not a certain level. If you keep the PH constantly at 5.8 chances are some nutes are not available for uptake. What i've found works best in a DWC is to set the PH to something like 5.5ish and let it drift up to 6.3ish before adjusting it back down again. This tyipcally takes 24 -48 hours.

Ideally, once plants are established, each 24 hours you will want the water to go down a bit, the Ph to have risen slightly, and the PPM to stay the same. This indicates the plants are eating nicely.

Once you have ruled out PH and PPM problems you can then move on to possible cal-mag deficiency.

you've got to give your plant more time stop focusing on the old growth and start checking the new

something else to consider is that when correcting problems you have to give it time to work.

Not try one thing on one day and then the next day when you see no improvement try something else.

You must have patience when dealing with any issue to see if your chosen method has worked.

I generally wait for around 7days to see improvements etc.

Any pre-remedy problems generally will never rectify themselves you can only look to new growth to see whether the problem has been resolved.

I think I can see the thrips on the leaves...the little tiny white dots....
I have a scope and those spots are just lint or something trust me I checked as soon as I saw one! but good looking out thx!

OK so patience is just what I need then. I do have a meter and I'm at 523PPM right now. I'll let them go a week and just worry about maintaining optimal conditions and stop obsessing over the old stuff.

Thanks guys! appreciate all the help!
