Ok I got his new PH meter

Hi fellow growers, the PH meter is a "Rapitest" soil PH meter. first thing I noticed was 2 seperate instructions on how to use it. 1 was a simple stick it in the soil and read the meter, the other is a more intense process, 2 cups soil mixed with 2 cups water, compact soil, drain off excess water, it comes with a coarse pad to lightly shine 4 - 5" of the probe, stick it in, lol then twist the probe between your fingers back & forth to cover the probe with the wet soil, wait 60 sec then read, clean off probe and do this again in 2 other spot to get an accurate reading, wtf ?
If the PH is to high what do you use to bring it down within the required bracket ?

you would use ph down or up those prob meters arent that accurate
