hmm.. i see a public outcry and a disgraceful situation, but no impending news of a resolution.. :(

it sucks badly that maryland folk are forced down to the street to find their medicine.. what is this the time of the dinosaurs? we need to go roaming the desert for a plant that wont kill us? it creeps me out when an official sees someone like William York who has cyclic vomiting syndrome puking his guts out and all he can say is that "there is some research to show that it does help with nausea. But there's no indication that this is the only way that he can get better." so, we let him continue to puke his guts out until god comes down and kills him essentially?

maybe if obama gets a second term he'll have the ability to create an actual, non-secret federal medical marijuana policy.. then states will need to conform...

All,

There is a grassroots organization that is actively working with the state legislature to fix the medical mj law in Maryland. We're remarkably far along in the lobbying process for this year and the difference between passing a good bill and getting bogged down in debate may only be how well we can organize citizen response.

We've got a launch event in Baltimore on January 15th that should bring a lot of people together. Please consider attending and please consider spreading the word about our group so we can truly represent the people of Maryland.

Event Description:

Date: Friday, January 15, 2010
Time: 7:30pm - 10:30pm
Location: Cyclops Bookstore, Baltimore MD
Street: 30 W. North Ave.
City/Town: Baltimore, MD

It's time to launch the legislative campaign to get medical marijuana in Maryland!

Come out to Cyclops Bookstore in Baltimore on Friday, January 15th to learn what's what and how to get involved with an interesting, enlightening panel of speakers, followed by a Q&A session to answer those questions you know you've always wanted to ask a professional about.

We're working to have patients, activists, and law enforcement as part of this event's panel. There will be general mingling and an awesome band (The Rez) afterwards (details TBA).

You really don't want to miss it!

(Bring friends, they won't wanna miss it either!)

P.S. We're asking for a $5+ requested donation (this work isn't easy, especially on a shoestring), but no one will be turned away (unless we run out of space!).

if i'm not mistaken .. maryland's med mj law is basically, if you get caught with it, only in a court of law can you prove that it was recommended by your doctor??? Is that right?? So in other words after you've been booked and charged, then you have to prove you need it for medical reasons by a maryland doctor???
If i'm correct (i'm not sure) this law has been in place for a while?? WHY did activists in MD settle for such a law. I haven't read of any more legislation waiting to be passed in that state. AND. it seems like the only state with med mj that has a law like that. What gives?? Anyone?? and please correct me if i'm wrong...

I have a buddie that stays out in D.C. and he said that a bill as already been passes for medical marajanna, paid for abortions, and sumthing else.

With that being said it will have to go throw several other ppl then if it makes it to OBAMA HES deff legalizing it no doubt about it. but i heard sum shit about that.

ya - its interesting about DC - what happened was this - they had a proposition back in like '96, but one guy said that they would not spend the money to count the votes - people stood up and said NO WAY - votes were counted and mmj was passed with a big majority - then the same guy says that they would then not spend the money to enact the deal - so now like 15 years later they have approved the funds to enable the already passed code...
