I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Dr Gupta knows more than "Brobeans" from RIU.

I'm not saying that marijuana cures cancer. I'm saying you'd be a fool to rule it out.

I go to conferences and present all the time and I've seen many bold claims. None of it is peer reviewed until it's submitted to be published in a journal. I never see their papers in any relevant journals. The point is: 1. researchers will say anything for funding and 2. take everything that you read related to science with a grain of salt unless in a peer reviewed journal

And don't form an opinion on subjects you have no information on. Seems like life 101 to me. There are many peer reviewed studies. I could provide them for you, but you've been such an obnoxious jack ass from the jump that I don't feel particularly inclined to waste my time with someone who will probably be unreceptive.

A media doctor that knows more than me? That's hitting below the belt man lol

My undergrad thesis involved protein markers of cancerous cells. The research was done in a well funded lab and we are still baffled by some of the interactions and signaling of chauffer proteins.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so call me a fool if you wish, i believe my current research is on the right track though, nonetheless hopefully I or someone else will find the answer soon.

Certainly further research is required. There have been some studies that something in MJ does inhibit the rapid growth common to cancer cells. So whether it cures, or slows a cancer's progress... and what cocktail of compounds in it has an impact on which cancers hasn't all been determined. But there is, imo, enough indicators to warrant further research to see what it can do for cancer patients.

Damn I came in here like a wrecking ball talking about how I wouldn't do chemo and shit, this thread is about Mr Nice, a pioneer in the cannabis industry and I think I should show him a little more respect and well meaning.

I will send my good thoughts his way, he is a great man and has given all of us a little taste of heaven in one way or another. His strains have been used for so many crosses that it would be a cannabible sin to not commend him for that.

Peace and love be with all of you and especially Mr Nice in the last chapters of his life.

I don't know why so many cannabis proponents seize on studies that are promising without reading the entire journal entries or understanding the limitations. (Love having JSTOR and a bunch of other journal access portals!)

Cannabis is great medicine, no doubt. It's safe, being practically nontoxic, and can alleviate pain, muscle spasticity, seizures, nausea and nerve pain because of our natural endocannabinoid receptors.

The cancer claims are interesting and I find the apoptosis of cancerous cells in the presence of THC to be worth further investigation. But does it stack up to modern treatment? Not at this point. Would it be ethical to run studies providing people with cancer only cannabis derived medication in lieu of proper treatment? No, not based on the current effectiveness of what we have.

Hey brobeans, ever study telomeres? Always found the idea of stopping cancerous division by way of telomeres interesting. So if the damaged cells don't have proper telomere length of marked locations, a cell would no longer divide. I'm a soft sciences guy but have always had a love for the hard sciences. What's your dissertation on? I'm trying to finish up my thesis but I've been loathing my topic as of late.

He was nominated for surgeon general by Obama, which he quickly turned down. I would have thought you'd have posters of the guy hanging in your bedroom because of this.

The guy has given more credibility to the medical marijuana movement than *anyone* has, yet you mock him because of the network he's employed by.
