Well my final thoughts on chelates is they are only necessary if you mix concentrated stock solutions. Sulfates do not play well at heavy concentrations due to solubility limitations. I don't mix concentrated stock solutions myself so I'll just stick with the sulfates, usually need the sulfur anyway.

Sulfates are only practical when make 100 gallon reservoirs or the like. Those weight of each micro compound is so minuscule in size that it's not practical to try and weigh out 0.013 grams of sodium molybdate, or the copper source. When I mix my concentrates, I crush it down to 1000 gallons worth into one gallon, or 500 gallons into a half gallon to be more exact. This way, I mere need to add 3.8ml of micro blend per gallon of res, and my micros are spot on, right where I want them.

If you have very large reservoirs you'll be gtg, but if you have 10 or 20 gallon tanks, you will learn the hard lesson. The good news is that the chelated metals aren't very expensive and all 6 micros, 4 of which are chelated can be purchased for about $70 before shipping. FWIW, I have a bunch of metallic sulfates I will never use.

I can't actually weigh out such small amounts... instead I dissolve anywhere from 1/8 to 2 t per 16 oz water depending on the concentration I'm trying to achieve and use a pipette to measure out ml of this concentrate. I only do a small op for what I need to keep me in smoke so maybe I mix 10 to 20 gallons per week. I hand water all my soil and keep runoff to a minimum when possible... this cuts down on amount of fertilizer required. The soilless medium will hold on to quite a bit of nutrient due to the cation exchange capacity... I'm assuming a lot more so than rockwool (which I have never tried to grow in BTW).

Well I must admit after some trial and error that rockwool would be a much better medium to test out fertilizer concentrations on. The lower CEC would make it much easier to flush out if you add too much of something. I'm running about 100-150-200 now and things are looking pretty good. I gave 'em 120N before they were ready and paid the price :o (not enough root I suppose).

Nah... still too much gap between N and P ratio... too heavy on the P looks like.... have to either up the N or down the P. Have to let the plants load up on N before going to 1:1.5 N:P... time will tell (Oops I'm talking phosphate... metric or SAE lol).

Edit: I ain't put that smiley in there???

I like the powdered chems… pH is much more stable than with off the shelf mixes. I've switched from pro-mix back to coco coir and am much happier with the result... less nutrient in the coco from the start so it doesn't mess with your fertilizer ratio quite as bad (at least initially).

renfro and all the other homies. Im mixing my own nutes and having trouble dialing it in. Started with base 20-20-20 2g per gallon and then just 1g per gallon of both calnit and epsom. They were yellowing so bad after reading your threads upped the the epsom to 2g per gal and new growth looked good but was due for a res change. Mixed it 2g per gal mix and 1.5g per gal epsom and calnit because it looks like most are aiming for a lil bit more or less 100ppm cal and 50ppm during flower. Im vegging so was gonna aim for a lil less but epsom is 26 ppm g/gallon and cal nit calcium ppm 56 ppm g/gallon so it seems theyre mixing 1/1 ratio of them. Well with the 2/1.5/1.5 new growth looks tacoed ( mag deficient I believe) and im not sure if possibly should just keep my mag to 2g per gal or or cut back to 2/1.5/1 because im using tap water 200ppm winter, 160 summer and calcium can lockout mag so possibly but im not sure. Im also using cob cbx2530 20w/sqft. Just added some tap water to lower my ppm and added a teaspoon(5g) to the res 15 gallons. Not quite 2g per gal but trying to see if it makes any difference getting tired of chasing this but im determined to dial it in. Moms are in hydroton, clones will be flowered like KLX medium less 2 inch netpots. Any help is appreciated after these clones root scrapping the old moms and trying again with the higher mag recipe I was having some success with or since I have 3 reservoirs, try different mixes you think might work. Also going to be using a co2 generator for flower did you guys notice you needed above average amounts of nutes or should I just aim for 1000ppm peak regardless

Also room is sealed, ac and dehumidifier got it at 80 degrees 60 humidity. Not using co2 yet thought maybe they were using it up but I try to vent some fresh air in a few times a day and im in there a lot. I have a co2 monitor I should just hook it up
