Nutrient burn or PH burn?

It's in coco plus, it's meant to be PH 6.0 but I've worked out he did the PH before fert and I believe the fertiliser brings the PH down so I'm thinking he's been feeding it too low of a PH

It should be on a CF of 1.6 but alas without being there I can't be 100% sure

Will be spending more time with him now

You are right. PH after adding nutes.
Do a test. Have him do it the old way and see what the PH is that he has been feeding.
Also make sure he is properly testing his PH Pen for accuracy with a test solution.
