if i am using a soil that already says it has plant food in it should i use nutes or not?

Most likely no, but more specifics on the soil you have would help.

depends how long it's been since you started it, most pre-fertilized soils are only good for 2-4 weeks, then they're spent.

well it says feeds plants for up to 3 months
yow, don't think I'd want that. I'm sure that the last months level would be low. I'd get some blossom booster for when they start flowering anyways. (I use Alaska Mor Bloom 0-10-10) Just go easy with it at first, if your leaf tips gets brown cut back some.
