Nurture over Nature?

So a friend of mine said that you can take shitty genetics and put it through hydro and get good bud..... is this true?
You can take bad genetics and nuture them and most likely keep the plant as thriving as possible through harvest. However, the time and effort spent seldom translates into a decent harvest. Growing medium or technique do nothing to fix bad genes so no . But... Hydro , since everything is instantly availiable the plant may do better than say, in dirt or someting. But it will still be severly limited to its genetic capabalities.

so if you took good genetics and didn't care of it very much, would it still produce good buds?

Strain dependant , but it is possible to get something decent even with some neglect. You get out what you put in so its up to you how you proceed from here. Might as well do it the best you can if you are going to do it though.

even if the strain is stable the seeds will produce variable phenotypes right?

Shitty seed shitty weed but its possiable hewever grew the seeds sucked at growing and it just diddent turn out

Kind of defies the long history of breeders ancient and current that have refined this plant into its current state. No hydro setup is going to make crap genetics into the frosty dank we enjoy today.

Hydro (if done right) just enables you to reach plants genetic potential from feeding side - you still have light as number one limiting factor in INDOOR growing, you would need to have 850-1100 PPFD everywhere for the light not becoming limiting factor.

And now the question arises - if it worth to put in a lot of resources -( labur, money etc) in to a plant that has bad yield, or is prone to disease or maybe worst - high is bad
