NTFG Dedicated Hydroponic Thread

So of course, NTFG is and will always be my favorite line. I have been growing hydroponics for the last couple years and miss the Nectar. Lots of the product line is very dense and not hydro friendly, so I switched up my regiment.

I wanted to start a thread and share info on what your doing with NTFG in hydro, what works, what dosent. Information from anyone that runs the line whole or uses some products, what you substitute and why, would be greatly appreciated.

Even if you have shared hydroponic information in other NTFG threads please reshare here and help narrow down this information into a specific spot. I appreciate everyone's responses and time.

I'm going back to nectar and gonna make it work in hydro buckets. Probably add one item from the line at a time as I experiment and collect things. Anyone else having success?
I have no idea I've never tried Hydroponics but here's my two cents. I think the dwc buckets would be the best way to do it. The problem I hear people have with Hydroponics and nectar is the viscosity of it being so thick and build up clogging hoses and pipes and whatnot. So if I were to try it I would do a simple dwc bucket and instead of having a reservoir I would top off the buckets or fill buckets and switch them with the ones your plants are in. No experience in the Hydroponics but my thinking is no hoses no clogs. I also don't know what effects an air stone going in your bucket would have and these types of nutrients and microbes. Again I don't know what I'm talkin about just a thought.

Yea that's the plan, 5 gal buckets, I think the first thing I'm gonna change is no more of the 2x4 coke can air stones, I'm gonna get one 10 inch round stone to sit in the bottom of a 12inch bucket. Hope that keeps things from settling...

I was literally going to try this same exact thing this grow that you are. Being to the line I veered away from it though. Hope you don't mind if I tag along it's nice having experienced people to bs with. They've helped me get to where I'm at.

I just recently started playing with Dwc buckets. I use GH trio with cal mag. I tried switching out my air stones and ordered via Amazon them 8 inch disk airstones. Make sure you got the right pump with fitting to support that stone. Mine are still in the box As my hose was to small. I ordered a massive air pump with eight hose manifold and it was still to small. Long story short I run a 4 inch disc and about a one inch ball airstone together in one bucket. Seems to be sufficient with manifold set to 3/4 on each stone. I wasted 40 bucks on them 8 inch disk. You need damn near a pond air pump to run them. In my opinion it’s way way overkill. I get it tho. I tried to do the same thing. Once all my nutrients are gone wich seems like will be forever I wanna switch to a ph perfect brand to alleviate some of that task. If you have the pump to run them stones I’d gladly mail them to you or to a empty residence near you. Can’t be but a couple bucks. You can see the dilemma in pics. I could run that stone off of my pump directly if I put a valve to control air. But that means one pump per stone. Not worth it for me but maybe for you. This also raises the question as to is it gonna be to much air all together to run that stone efficiently in a bucket

Yea I have 2 1000 what ever the rating is called pumps. They move air, I have those manifolds as well with adaptors and different size hoses. I tried lots of stone, pump combos before settling on 3 2x4 inch coke can stones in each dwc bucket. I greatly appreciate your offer, would be nice to try experiment for free. Pm me if you want

I was thinking 2 stones per pump, 2 pumps 4 buckets, 5th bucket using 2x4 stones to compare against. I have the fittings to make that happen

I’d like to see it done if you start a journal. Message me as I’m not sure if I was gonna do it right. I think I’m gonna order 2x4 stones for next run also.

Yea I'll make a journal and keep posting here my progress. I'm committed to another 80 days or so before I can switch it all up. Knowing plants go for 10 to 11 weeks in the flower tent if they end up being keepers for me I basicly add a plant every 2 weeks untill I have 5. Then roughly every 2 weeks one finishes and I add another. It's a great situation to ease into trying new things without costing a whole grow cycle

No that makes sense. I want to order two more Dwc buckets and veg two while two flower. I’d have to dig out my old sf1000’s to pull it off. I vegged my current Dwc with flowering autos in ffof. I noticed with my light so far away from dwc one kinda stretched a lot more than I wanted. I flipped today for space purposes. I’m assuming your doing autos to keep same light schedule. I just switched to photos to get more veg and offed all my auto seeds. Since it’s my first Dwc experience I only topped and didn’t lst like I usually do. Trying to make sure I got the feel of things before I play around. I am glad I ordered the genetics I liked. I looked last night and all their photo seeds are sold out and most their autos too. I also think two more buckets in my 4x4 will slow the solution from warming as fast. Sounds like I need to order some auto seeds and try a new genetic to pull it off.

No I use photos, just veg room is my closet.

Was thinking of using 2 or 3 of these cubes one inside the pot one on top the other and seeing how big of a plant I can get. Would still be 100% hydro and won't have to worry about things settling in res.

8x8x8 sounds small, but a 5 gal bucket is only like 17 inches tall and not even 12 inches at the top. 2 or 3 cubes easily gives me the same space for roots to occupy Screenshot_20220525-181018_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20220525-181028_Chrome.jpg

Better yet

I've thought about trying nectar in coco to use up what I have left but figured it would be a hand water.

All the nutrients are such low pH in the bottle was not sure how long it would hold up after being pH'd with the Olympus.

Maybe Gaia would be a good base
