Now that Healthcare is Passed, Can State Governments Sue the Federal Government???

If sued, and the state government wins, what will happen next with healthcare?

The Federal Government may not survive in its present form much longer. One good thing about this "free healthcare plan" is the legitimacy of forcing people to comply will be finally be challenged, by States and more importantly by individuals. More people will see government for what it really is, a system of control that relies ultimately upon the use of force and VIOLATING rights. It was supposed to PROTECT individual rights not steal them. More people need to know this.

Entitlement programs breed apathy and encourage rationalizations rather than self reliance.

The republican argument that applies to these lawsuits will also make Medicare unconstitutional. Careful there republicans, dont bite the tit you're sucking on.

lol that would be rather amusing when they find out they are no longer entitled to something they have been paying towards all their life... the baby boomers will really go for that idea ;)

Whats going on is totally illegal, the senate does not make laws. THE HOUSE DOES. They pulled this executive order out of their asses and I really hope the states win the lawsuits(not likely since the supreme court has been known to side with the feds). They need to read the 10th amendment about state vs federal rights.

Making people buy something is totally illegal.

I am for reform, but it needs to be done correctly. If anyone thinks that we dont need reform, have fun getting sick and watching your health insurance company drop your coverage. THAT BLOWS MY MIND! People are paying into something for security when they get sick, and when they get sick they are no longer covered.

Taxes also need to be raised on the VERY wealthy. Making $250,000 a year as a couple to me isnt wealthy. My mom makes $100,000 a year and we still struggle.

Congress has the ability to regulate commerce to an extent. A private citizen who chooses not to buy health insurance is, by definition...not involved in commerce. this is one of the aspects of this HC bill that is illegal, as congress has no power to do anything in this instance. The states that have filed, or are prparing to file against the federal gov. are MOSTLY doing so because they are going to get screwed into absorbing the huge costs invlolved without being properly reimbursed by the federal gov.

Congress has overstepped their legal bounds in a desperate effort to secure a second term for Obama in 2012. This bill is way to complicated, and was pushed through way too fast for the people to fully understand what exactaly was being voted on.

I am neither a Republican nor Democrat, as both sides are simply two different mafia organizations engaged in an eternal struggle for control of the money machine that is the American Public.

The Medicare/ Medicaid 'benefit' is something that American Citizens earn thru years of payroll deductions. Albeit small deductions, they are removed from your earnings without any say on your part. Now If I choose to utilize' medicare/medicade when I get older for instance, that is MY choice entirely. I do not have to. I can also be buried at the expense of the U.S. Government (via your tax dollars) as my veterans’ benefits cover it. Will I allow the government to bury me? F$%^ no. Because through careful financial planning and with the assistance of my family that will be a matter I take care of... not the U.S tax payers. Now this (illegal)healthcare bill states that I MUST buy healthcare insurance, whether I need it OR can even afford it or not. Talk about the great train robbery.

The weak argument has also been made about car insurance...you HAVE to have it. Actually in a few states you do not still. Nor do you HAVE to drive a car. The privilege of driving a car in the U.S. is a PRIVILEDGE (not a right) that is granted to qualified operators via license in the state you reside. So technically you DO NOT have to have car insurance, unless you want to use the privilege of driving a car. I actually know people who don't own a car..they take public transportation or walk. What is different about car insurance vs. forced health insurance? LIABILITY. That is the minimum type of coverage you HAVE to have. That is because we have drunks, crackheads and other losers who just can’t grasp the idea of safe driving. So we ALL pay.

So WHY on earth should it be MANDATORY for you to have health insurance? For starters, people who cannot afford it now WILL NOT be able to afford it later. This is the biggest outright lie I have heard to date. And if you cannot afford it...you get FINED? Is that not double-jeopardy? Costs ARE NOT going down, PERIOD. Remember all those people who can now get coverage for pre-existing conditions? Where do you think the extra money needed to cover all those people will from? Insurance companies WILL raise rates(even though the bill says they cannot), and you the public will pay for it. Don't think so? Anyone who has ever lived in an area that was hit by bad hail storms knows exactly what I'm talking about. After enough severe storms, many insurance carriers stopped offering hail coverage due to the overwhelming losses. Now back to liability and health insurance. If health insurance is made mandatory, that means ALL of those FAT-ASS OVERWEIGHT ALCOHOLIC people are now a huge liability to the system that everyone is paying into...whether you can afford it or not. And you are going to pay for it. The same as the people who drink and drive, don't use seatbelts or text while driving that raise your car insurance rates. Feeling priveldged yet? The United States of America has just jumped the Shark. Officially.

Is it your intention to spread bullshit or are you just really misinformed.

BTW you can always move to one of the countries below in the gray, they are the only countries without universal health coverage.

Car insurance laws are State laws. This new health insurance law is a Federal law. So comparing the two is silly.

Even so...If I don't want car insurance I can decide not to own a car. Not sure how to get out of this health insurance law other than death.

I'm guessing many state constitutions have some type of sovereignty clauses which will be invoked during court cases.

The authority for the federal government to force an individual to buy something hasn't been "granted". It will be interesting to see the legal rationalizations used to accomodate this mandate. Regardless, I'm not doing it, on principle.

im no spring chicken baddog, but if your goverment told you to jump off a cliff, sounds like you might take them up on that. not me, i love the "idea" of universal health care, but beieng fined for making a personal choice is pretty shady. esepecially when an individual chooses alternative medicine over western medicine.........insurance companys wont honor shiatsu or holistic medicine, or herboligy, or energy therapys................... why is my goverment telling me how to go about healing my body, what if i dont want a fist full of pills to heal myself ? not trying to start a war here but i feel mandating insurance is not our federal goverments place.
