Optimal levels for indoors cannabis growing
What are the optimum humidity levels for indoor cannabis growing? Here’s a quick rehash of the ideal humidity and temperature for indoor growing:

Also dont decrease the humidity by more than 1% per day.
I dont mean to be condescending, but I feel as though this applies more to a HPS lit environment. The lack of infra red means my temp and humidity have to be higher to achieve the ideal VPD.

I dont think so. The only thing about LED is one may have to raise temperatures up because they dont create as much heat.
They would still both require the same temperatures regardless of light source.

Ive never found my Gavita 1700e requires hotter temps than my 1000w Hortilux HPS. One you may have to raise the temps, and the other you may have to lower the temps.

I myself cant control the temps like as in the chart. Mine both usually run at 80f-84f, and 50% humidity throughout the entire grow. One thing I do have is tremendous air flow.

Sometimes I wonder how meaningful the single or dual IR diodes spread over 200-400 total diodes is with most LEDs. Seems like the just throw a single diode onto most smaller quantum boards just for marketing..

For example I have a 120w quantum board here that has 230 something diodes, and a single IR diode on the left hand side for some reason. I wouldn't image half a watt of IR is that effective

Yeah 1 or 2 pumping .5 w are pretty well useless. Mostly marketing bullshit. Better off using a seperate booster board for ir and/or uv. More control.

Bonus being you can also use as a flower initiator and sunrise sunset switch aswell.

I was thinking of soldering a few IR diodes onto the 10s single strip PCBs you can get on eBay for next to nothing...for example epistar IR cobs run for a few dollars a pack on eBay, and the 10s PCB strips for a few dollars, 24v/700ma drivers are next to nothing as well.

Yes for sure. Very satisfying building your own equipment then smoking the returns. :hump:

Ali express sell all that shit for even less if you can wait a bit longer for delivery. Hot red store have pcb's and quality Cree diodes dirt cheap.

Or the various boosters (qb10, qb20 etc) from Kingbrite (Alibaba) are great value only if you can nab a first user or a sales shipping discount, otherwise shipping is more than the products. They use Cree and Lg diodes. meanwell drivers. Proven results.

I've learnt in my dodgy lighting experiments, that cheap cobs and/or cheap drivers are only good for heat and gaining experience. Im more prepared to now spend a bit more and get something reliable and efficient. Pays you back in no time.

If you run your veg at 62 °F you're an idiot and certainly are going to run into issues..

Most LED fixtures these days in fact do have IR chips installed on them. It's nothing to do with that for temperatures.

LED don't put off as much Radiant heat to the plants in general, this is why a higher temperature is required to get the plants to the optimal LST or Leaf Surface Temperature for them to function optimally..
HPS put off much more Radiant heat which will require monitoring the air temperatures and keeping them lower to not heat stress the plants, typically anything 80+ °F can begin to stress most plants in flower especially. Depending on your HPS distance to the plants the plant itself could be as hot as 5 °F hotter than the air its in.

I feel like lots of people giving advice on LED or HPS haven't used both and have no business giving advice on it.

Question, at what point in the plants life should you drop the RH in your opinion? I had really good success with 84 degrees F and 64% humidity until my lack or airflow led to boyritis. I caught it early and harvested before my crop was ruined, and I have since upgraded my airflow, but I am curious if there is a certain stage of budding where dropping the RH won't harm the yield.
I didn't know your variables when I posted. Leds you wanna run higher temps and humidity because of lack of Ir but of course you need to be careful when you start to bud up. On the final few weeks though I will shorten light cycle, and temps to help with terps. Humidity max should probably be 55 or so, 40-45 would be ideal

I take it as 62f being the low when lights are out, and a max of 82f when the lights are on. Id never veg at 62f when lights are on. You would also risk fertilizer burn if giving full strength nutrients at that low of a temperature because metabolism would be slow.. Plants use less nutrients the cooler it is.
Plenty of times in my neck of the woods it gets in the low 60s in the spring, and I detect no adverse reactions. I get 10ft tall plants outside when done.

I myself veg 24/7, and temps are 78ff-85f.
