Noob Question. How much better are cree leds compared to chinese luxeon

I have a couple of chinese luxeon led panels and i was just wondering how much better are cree leds. I have noticed that the luxeon panel has to be within 10-15 cm of the canopy before it becomes very effective. Most people go on about how good crees are, i was interested to find out how much better they are. Any help would be great.

its mostly the chipsets. a good led for flowering has a minimum chipset of 3watts. thats 3watts for each individual led.
some of the better ones include 15watt chipsets all the way up to 80watt. thats an 80watt individual led. not 80 1watt leds.
anything below 3watts tends to not have the canopy penetration and you will need to place it closer.
3 watt leds usually are hung 16-24 inches above the canopy.

Wavelength?
Why dont u look at the datasheets of what u want to compare?
The panels are running 6 x 660nm, 6 x 630nm, 6 x 6500k, 6 x 3000k. I dont have the datasheets for the leds. I just sent an email with the wavelengths that i wanted and she made the panels.

The chipsets that i am running are all 3w. The panels have 24 x 3w leds.

I was interested in upgrading to cree XPE chipsets but i was just wondering how good they are? What i am trying to comparing them to are the PCB + leds from (Merry)seller on ebay.

i still dont quite get it, luxeon as e.g. in luxeon rebel -phillips, or as in some random cheapo leds?
if its phillips why dont u just check their homepage and datasheets.

brand stuff usually has more output at same wattage consumption, but a much higher inital cost. So you could compensate with another panel too, Initial cost would still be cheaper but have in the end a higher electric bill.

They are just some random cheapo i think

well with random its hard to tell, i made calculations in the past for about 80W of leds and after about 1,5yrs both would get equal in cost but then the brand gets cheaper and cheaper because of the lower consumption. but there r stil questions because i dont know how reliable those cheapo leds datasheets r. and it totally depends on how cheap u can get the cree, i think my calc was for about 5$-6$ per cree compared to <1$ per cheapo, if u can get them for half...

to summarize cree totally pwns those cheapo in output/W, if u can get em cheap u can switch off ur brain. Im going the path of cheapo ebay satisled leds...gonna see how its going to work out
