Noob Needs HELP! :)

I have loads of questions for this thread but 1 at a time had no replys from anyone on this site??

Question 1.
Affter seed germinates pushes up through the soil do they all have long thin stems or do they thinken with time.
Question 2.
should i wait for the third set of leafs before i stick them on 18/6, as they are 7 cm tall
with there first set of leaves no lights but the sun on the window cill

they always have thin stems at first but if theyre stretching for alight it'll make it worse so get them under a close light asap and to help stem thickening get a fan on them to make them push against someting thereby building athicker stem, its like a person lifting weights, there muscles build up. its up to you when or even if u bother putting them on 18/6 sum people keep them on 24/0 totally thru veg.

thanks mate so you are saying even though they have i set of leafs i can still put them on 18/6(plants grow more at night after storing energy from the sun during the day) so keeping them on 24/0 will add time onto cropping time so i understand
after you answer this i will go stick the 20 under lights

cropping time?? do u mean flowering time? to be honest i've heard arguments from both sides as to it being beneficial or harmful. the truth is i dont know for definite and be sceptical of those who claim they do. personally i run 24/0 under 110 watt cfl for 2 weeks then 18/6 under 400mh till my plants are about 20' tall then put them under 1000hps 12/12. u the light time for vegging is truly a personal choice.

I get it now you use or people in general use low power 110 clf/fluresent for 2 weeks so the seedlings dont try and reach for the skys this gives them time to build a stable root system and a thicker but not taller stem's
my mate said he had a spare 110 clf if i get this and place close to seedlings i should be there in 8 days ready for 18/6

i have 20 bubble gum ready 1 inch tall well most of them so tomorrows mission to set ther remaining 8 days to 24/0 on the 110clf.

do us a favour if i have got it wrong try and get back to me i shell be done by 1300 GMT
