No PH tester but I need a solution

I don't have a ph tester due to budget issues. My plants started to go downhill so I changed out the soil and the new growth looks good but I can tell they are about to start going downhill again.

Im using a soil mixture of MG and I feel that my ph is off. Without using an actual tester, is there anything that I can do to adjust my ph and know its within a certain range?

Also, are there signs that a plant will show reflecting the ph level in the soil?

Thanks

when i was using miraclegro I found that using the ro water from the store and foliar feeding made a huge difference.

Is your soil the organic kind or fertilized kind? The fertilized MG soil comes with a bunch of problems I've heard. I hear good things about their organic soil though.

and for another 10 bucks he could have a digital, not saying your wrong but to me they don't give you a close enough reading on ph

I f'n hate paper ph tester. You look at the color chart and it is never anywhere close to any color on the chart. I agree, spend the 25 bucks on a digital PH pen. You gotta plan for money when doing a grow, especially when you're a newb cuz something always comes up.

I respectfully dissagree-- though it is clearly a matter of taste. My grow is going just fine with ph papers, which never need calibration. For a soil based grow, the accuracy is just fine.

Cheap digital testers can lose calibration and land you in a heap of trouble. Check out the Amazon reviews on the tester you listed-- not worth the money IMO.

Well since its such an important tool then he should spend the 75-100 bucks and get a good one. It will pay for itself with his first harvest. O and I bet they (cheap ones) are more accurate than the paper tests...... and calibration fluid is like 8 bucks.

Without pics any answer will be just a wild ass guess. According to some Ph in soil is pretty much irrelevant. I think it was FDD2BLK. I bet you are having other issues not Ph related, but like I said with out pics.....

it took me a few grows but i finially figured out that my grows in soil do so much better when i don't pay any attention to the ph. i use mg potting soil mix and i water straight out of the water hose like i do the rest of my vegtables.

Here are the pics. Some are better than the others. I now have new growth on some of my plants that is dark green and the edges are curling. Im using MG that does have some fert in it. If you want more details I posted a thread on my low budget grow.

Thanks for the input.

The new growth is now droopy, and curling under. Some of the other plants, the leaves curl up. Some of the leaves are dark dark green and some of the others are yellowish. What's the deal
