No or very few trichomes?

Mainly genetics. You could expose them to extra UVA and UVB light to increase triochome production. I would imagine PM would probably have the opposite effect with the plant making more to protect the buds.

I second this, It's mostly genetics there is no trick to having frosty weed. I've grown very frosty weed in a grow tent that was not even close to having a good VPD or environment. I could put my creamsicle cutting in any grow room and it'd produce enough grease to make a mild glue out of.

UV light bars work, I have a friend running my genetics and the only difference with his setup is he uses the dual overhead UV bars Growers Choice offers and he most certainly had some fat sugary nugs compared to my lights with no UV added. That's more of a natural phenomena than a trick or technique though.

Also, week 1 of 12/12 I don't even have buds yet, so maybe you mean week 1 since budlets formed, you won't see a bulk of "frost" start forming in most cases until mid/late flower.

p.s if you want really frosty genetics look at Breath strains, Motor Breath, Garlic Breath, Gorilla Breath, all produce insanely frosty sticky buds every time. I've never had a Breath seed produce flower that wasn't frosty. In this example Gorilla Breath which I discontinued due to poor production.
