No light manipulation?

Just curious what the pros / cons are for just letting the girls do their thing outdoors. Without manipulating the light cycle.

We've been perusing posts and most outdoor set-ups don't appear to include any type of light restricting tarps or devices.

The pro of going full term is full weight. The Con is possible problems later in the season due to moisture changes and mold ect. Some places have too extreme climates early in flower season and some places don't have drastic light hour changes (equator or extreme north) and use it as a supplemental. Light Dep is limiting daylight hours to flower early. I don't think people keep them in the dark. I don't know how that would be productive.

The tarps are typically white on one side and dark on the other. You need to have good air flow to keep temps stable and a reliable way to move the tarps that is not an in-connivance.

For me on the end of not using light dep.... I am letting the plants get to their full size therefore each plant is yielding to its full potential (for this area)
There are pros and cons to every style of growing tho

Thanks for the comments. We're not planning on going for this stuff. Here in New England, our biggest concern after rippers, then temps in the fall. Then other things like excess moisture, mold and pests.

Again thanks!

All is outdoor folks deal with those problems, more or less.
It has it's own concerns, outdoor.
But since you seem to be a medical provider, light dep is the better way to keep stock all year anyway.

The biggest pro IMO, when timed to flower in summer, is the stronger summer sun.

The con is having to throw shade every damn day for weeks on end.
I start my girls early and just kick on some simple lights to keep em awake until the days get long. I use to pull covers to pull two a year. I finally just put in more greenhouses so I can start early and let em go until chop. I have my green houses sealed nice and tight with double entries and multiple layered tightly woven fabric windows to keep dirt and critters out as best I can. My reason for green houses is to keep my flowers nice and clean while using the natural sun. Costs me a bit to keep them cool during those blistering months, but way better than doing big indoor year around. My patients actually get very excited to get some nice sun soil grown flowers. Imo you just can't beat the taste of sun soil grown herb. I don't miss pulling plastic that's for sure ....lol

So we're certainly appreciating lower energy costs. We're hoping to get enough from 3 plants this summer to meet 2 indoor crops from our 600w set-up. Started these girls back in March but the season was slow, so they didn't get outside until June. Still they doubled in size in the past 3 weeks.

Also we're not feeding them any special nutes, Just using the pre-nuted soils.
