Nitrogen or Magnesium Deficiency?

Hello,

Detail:
Strain: Dinafem’s Critical +.
11 lt pots.
2nd veg week.
Coco Coir - Coco Mix. First time in coco, so I’m newbie in coco.
Giving them: AN Grow 3/lt - Micro 2/lt - Bloom 1/lt - Voodoo Juice 2/lt - Piranha 2/lt - B52 2/lt - Bud Candy 2/lt. Planning in giving them twice quantity per lt as i’m gong to 3rd week. I’m using tap water (ppm 200 app.)
Yellow decoloration of leaves, veins green.
As I used to grow in soil, this wasn’t an issue before. Reading many threads here i’m in doubt of what can be, it seems nitrogen or magnesium deficiency.

BTW , not all plants present this, just about a third of them.

What is it? What do u recommend? I haven’t seen Cal Mag in growshops, so if is that, I need to find a solution in retail stores. Any advice?

There are several ca and mg concoctions other then calmag...and truthfully I can't imagine a growshop without one or the other. Is your tap water hard? If so...there's your calcium. And you can buy epsom salts at the local drug store.

Coco has it's own set of problems and if you haven't done your research...now is the time. It is best used as a hydro type media and not allowed to dry like you would with soil. If it wasn't a pre-rinsed pre-buffered brand name coco...that means that you should have done the coco rinse and prep-work yourself. If you tell us more details about your grow...it'll make things easier.

They really don’t have in the growshops, because almost no one grows in coco or the suppliers don’t have it. That’s why I asked for a retail solution.

The tap water I use is about 250 ppm acording to my city data.

I made my research about coco and that’s why I’m in doubt, because as far as I read, coco coir has problems with calcium and magnesium, though some people says that with tap water I shouldn’t have any problem for the same reason you tell me (if its hard enough, there I have my calcium).

The coco coir was wet and treated beforehand.

Greetings to you. Epsom salts are MgSO4 (magnesium sulfate) and yes...it's the same stuff people put in their bathwater. Just don't get the scented stuff. It is endothermic...meaning it sucks heat when dissolving. So warm the water first. Use 1 tsp/gal and you can either add it to nutrients or foliar feed with it. magnesium isn't just a coco thing. Marijuana and some strains in particular are real Mg hogs. So hydro users need to deal with it too. Hope that helps...

Yes, its just arriving here. There are many experienced growers but most of them grow in soil. Hydro growers are even more rare here.

That’s why I’m asking, because people from the growshops don’t know about coco. They have theoretical knowledge, just as me before going coco.

Weird? As soon as I walk into my local Hydro shop I see bags of Coco everywhere?

No. Im in america. Is the AN grow bloom and micro the one for coco? I know there is one for soil. When using coco use coco specific nutrients. When I used the one for soil in coco I always checked ph anyway because I didnt trust it. Sometimes the ph would be way off. I think if you add additives it will increase ph or decrease it. If your ph going in is wrong (in coco best is 5.8-6.0) it can make some nutrients unavailabe for the plant to uptake.

I grow solely in coco and I have no clue about your nutrients. I won't use AN because I don't like their owner so I know nothing about them.

I use three part General Hydroponics Flora series. Coco is pure hydro it just provides you a bit of a buffer. You are showing a K+ (potassium) deficiency, but it could be from a pH lock out or from the nute combination you are using etc...

My tap water runs 200 to 250 PPM and uses Cl (chlorine) chloraminated water could also be locking you out. Call your water company and ask if they use chlorine or chloramine. If they use chloramine you need to RO your water or buy distilled in which case you MUST use an Mg/Ca additive. I use Gen Hydro's CaliMagic because they have the better ratio of Ca to Mg. Perfect would be 6:1 but their 5:1 comes close enough.

It could also be a pH lockout. Make SURE you use a pH pen. I prefer Bluelab products but there are many good ones. The color changing paper is NOT sensitive enough for hydro. In coco you must run 5.5 to 6.01.

I don't check the grow forums a lot. So if I can be of any other help please @ me in a post.

All the additives I use are for coco and the macro nutrients are coco specific too.

Guys, could you explain what is a Ph lock? Is that when the Ph is higher or lower the ideal Ph? Or happens in both?

As I said before, this is happening to some of the plants, not all of them.

I will add more macronutrients as recommended by the manufacturer for week 2+. And also I will get the Ph and PPM pens.
