Nikola Tesla to bad he wasn't a business man..

I wish we based our electric grid on Tesla's ideas.
Edison is nothing more then a shady business man who stole all his credit from others.

Tesla was the one who knew that the best way to transport electricity through a wire was to use AC current.

But anyways Tesla wanted to have a wireless grid the same way your radio receives waves of energy. He wanted to set up giant power stations similar to radio & cellphone towers that transmitted power to all devices in its radius.

Funny how much ahead of his time he was. We ended up going with Edison wired system and now we are trying go wireless. To bad we do not have these towers so we are forced to use batteries.

Imagine every car running on electricity coming from a giant tower. all your cellphones ,computers... everything

Tesla was a bad ass Genius! Decades ahead of his time. I wonder what extravagant claims he made of possible scientific and technological advances near the end of his career that made people think him mad?

This kind of stuff blows my mind...i don't know much about Tesla, but i know he sure was a one of a kind genius.

Yes, tesla was an incredible scientist. he was the one behind flouro lights and if his technology had been advanced back then we would all be using plasma instead of hps and mh.

Edison is nothing more then a shady business man who stole all his credit from others.

"...then he took an axe and gave his lover 40 whacks!" Edison worked hard to make sure that guy was executed by AC current. He lobbied to proved how dangerous AC was compared to DC. There is surviving film footage of Edison's cool killings of all sorts of small animals. Tossing them live on a Hot plate and then stuffing them dead in sacks one after another, with an odd, "I told you so" look on his fact. Creepy.

But, in order to prove that enough AC will kill a man instantly, "every time," the execution was allowed. Well the guy was so big, he would not die. They ended up having to cook him over a 9 minute period. So, DC lost. AC is not so bad after all if it takes 40 whacks.

I've heard that Tesla wanted to "broadcast" power for everyone to use, but did he ever figure out a system to do it?

wouldave been kinda cool if tesla had been a business genius too. (tony stark? :))

....

or not, maybe the reason for tesla´s greatness, was simply that, he did not do this for money.

he did it for the love of science.

"Caustic criticism greeted his speculations concerning communication with other planets, his assertions that he could split the Earth like an apple, and his claim of having invented a death ray capable of destroying 10,000 airplanes at a distance of 250 miles (400 kilometres)."

(and then again, maybe its just fine he never got funding for some of his,,,bigger,, ideas ;))

Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) and one of his coils, circa 1899 (double exposure).

Tesla was born to Serbian parents who lived in Croatia on July 10, 1856. He attended the polytechnic school in Graz, Austria for two years (he was forced to drop out from lack of funds) beginning in 1875, but was basically self taught. He worked in Germany, France and England before emigrating to America in June of 1884. He became an American citizen on July 30, 1891. Despite his many great inventions, he died a poor man on January 7, 1943.
His greatest inventions were the AC motor, conceived in 1882, and the polyphase system to generate and distribute AC power (which is used the world over today). Some of Tesla's other inventions include the steam turbine, VTOL aircraft and radio (Tesla first demonstrated radio in 1893, two years before Marconi's first demonstration, Tesla's patents were upheld by the U.S. Supreme court, over Marconi's, in 1963).

the worst part is he was anti-death penalty for a long time until that point....

I don't think putting that much energy into the air is a good thing. Living under power lines puts off enough electricity to cause problems of various kinds. Some say that all the wifi, cell signals, radio and others cause problems.

Look up Arc Attack who play music with giant Tesla coils
