Night CFL lighting for night work in the garden?

So I need to do some work in the garden tonight. It will be after the ladies go to sleep.

I have been avoiding it, but now I need to. In day 54 of flowering.

If I use a singular CFL bulb in a clip lamp for lighting...I should be ok right? I mean from what I have read these CFL bulbs need to be really close to the plant in order to do much. If I have it 5-6 feet away...I should be good right?

Pretty drunk and stoned right now so I know this ain't no biggie...but this is my first grow and I don't wanna fuck up my ladies some how.

DO NOT BREAK the darkness with a CFL bulb. ANY light, could cause photosynthesis, however weak it may be. Use a GREEN INCANDESCENT, also known as a party bulb. :)

But I ain't got one and can't get one for a bit. I live in the sticks. The ladies are starting to show signs of light stress.

So even a single fourteen watt C.F.L. bulb even ten feet away will fuck them up? I appreciate the advice. What is the worst that can happen to them this late in the game? Simply curious.

So it would be better to wait until the light cycle is on, shut off the six hundred watt HPS, cool it down, move the ballast up a bit and then resume? A 30-45 minute period of darkness during light on cycle is OK compared to light on during the dark period?

Haha...typed all of this with Dragon Speech software...that is fucking badass. It took five times as long to get right but I am down. Fucking beam me up Scotty.

I think the light during dark period thing is greatly exaggerated if not an out right lie. Theres light from the moon, traffic lights etc in the real world and plants seem to have no problems. Plus when I grew I had my light on when the grow light was off in my closet. Just wait for the light to conk off open the door with a light and fix what you need to. A couple seconds of darkness won't be missed.

Traffic lights? Where are you growing? ;)

You are right, he can catch it close to lights on or off and it won't matter. I do not recommend introducing light to your plants in the middle of the 12 hours however.... Plenty of people with actual experience will tell you that light stress can hermie your plants or stop flowering all together.

Fuck it. Going to throw on some Marley in the iPod and go to work. I guess I will never know if I lost some percentage of potency, but I am in the mood.

Thanks for the advice.

Light in the dark period will re-veg your buds and cause all sorts of prob. Traffic lights WTF?

dude the plants in the WILD are reproducing... dumb shit.... we dont want our buds reproducing(thats how they get full of seeds)...... lmao we grow inside for a reason.... if you initiate light to your 12 hr dark cycle they will think its time to reproduce and go hermie... its not a lie its proven and anyone grown pot knows dont fuck with dark shedule. its not potency youll loose its bud. period. it could fuck your whole plant. this is like common sence... and i never saw no traffic light in the woods bro... my thought is if hes there to open the door when it shuts off why not just do it while lights on? why we gonna wait for it to turn off...? and yes dark during daylight is better. there are shadows and there are cloudy days.... i would just keep it under something so its not full dark....

DO YOUR "GARDENING" DURING DAY LIGHT OR DONT DO IT AT ALL. IT WILL NOT HURT YOUR PLANTS TO LET EM GROW WITHOUT TRIMMING THEM. NOTHING BAD WILL HAPPEN LIKE LETTING LIGHT INTO YOUR DARK PERIOD.

good thing you asked.. because your WAY wrong buddy.

any amount of light.. within the correct spectrum.. will interrupt the dark cycle of the plant.

You need to use a green light.. like one of those 'party' colored light bulbs you know?

Plants don't react to the 'green' spectrum.. many growers use these for working in the dark.

I'm sure someone has already told you this.. if not, well.. now you know.

peace.
