Going to use 8-12 of these guys in my cab. Instant on, warmish temperature, a little cooler than normal, but a few extra lumens to help make up for it. Main thing is they are small, you should be able to fit two to three in the same space as a 42w cfl.

for that price though, you should have bought a 200w cfl. Those 23w are usually on sale somewhere liek walmart, four for the price of those.

A 200w isn't spread as evenly and takes up more headroom. Although I understand what you are saying about cost.
