News Article: Police Find Huge Marijuana Plants

PLEASANT VIEW - The resident of a Weber County house was jailed recently on drug charges after firefighters responding to a fire there discovered $78,000 in marijuana plants in his basement. Police said the man was charged Monday with cultivation and possession of marijuana. The charges are more severe because he lives near a school and playground.
Authorities said they discovered the setup in the basement as firefighters searched the house Saturday to make sure the flames were out.
Officials were clued-in when they saw a basement window from outside, but only an interior wall inside. Firefighters said they knocked a hole in the wall and found about 130 plants behind it.

they say 78k because they weigh the whole plant, including the pots, and then estimate how much a pound is worth, and they get that figure

Not only is it the weight of the entire plant,roots and all,it's calculated on the price in individual joints. Just like somebody with 10 lbs. was going to spend months rolling it all up and peddling it in schoolyards, like in those anti-drug movies. This enables them at budget time to point to the busts and say "We took $X00000 of drugs off the street, give us more money."Values are always inflated by the police and always have been !

The firemen always call the cops when they discover a grow, one reason to make sure your wiring is up to snuff. High voltage and water are poor companions. I've known of a few busts for this reason. Any are too many!!
