Hey so I've started my own grow and would like to ask what's the usual time limit for a seedling to grow to vegetation stage

bro it's good practice to start in a small pot. Be super careful with your watering using that container. You can veg as long as you like but I'd say, if you have a good light, it's gonna take you about 8 weeks to get to a good flowering size. There are a zillion variables keep up posted with updates.

I understand with the watering, I am being very vigilant with the watering, not to over and not too under. I have a 600 watt HPS bulb, I'll be posting as time goes on

Actually when a seedling emerges the vegetative stage begins... average veg is about 6 weeks...
or whatever you want..

be careful with that 600 watt with new seedlings

I would mound up that medium to a few cm's under the leaves to keep it from stretching on you in that big pot.
