Newbie question, should I start topping?

Hello again everyone,

So we're deciding whether its time to start topping them or not.

There about 8 inches tall now, and there barely into the vegging stage, but they look
like its time to start topping them to avoid having them grow tall, we would like the plants
to be short and bushy.

Unfortunately I dont have any pics, I have four Chem Dogs, and 4 45-day super skunks.

Also I hear they grow more during the dark, should I top them during the night or light time?

We have them on a 18/6 light schedule.

how many nodes ya got.. I always top just above the third node and then again on the branches commingfrom the 2nd node a couple weeks later. night or day doesn't matter 45 days in veg just top and throw em into flower

like tussel said top them after the third node but let them veg out for about a weak or so mayb two so the can get nice and bushy

they have about 5 nodes, or 5 spots where they separate into 2 or more branches. Im guessing I shouldnt wait to lollipop till there bigger right?

not counting the cotalydons count up 4 and cut off just above it wait a week or 2 and flower it. and as po said uncle ben will get shit goin for ya

I just topped today! I'm including my thread so you can see the advice I got as well as my pix with arrows pointing out possible spot. Uncle Ben's technique says cut right above the second set of branches above the cotyledons.

Everytime you plan on topping it, remember it's going to take 5-8 days for it to start growing right again, so if you top it many times add a week or so on it's veg cycle, because you can only flower for so long.

Not true it will start growing the next day. This is another myth when you top it will continue to grow and thrive the reason I say wait a week after topping is to give those tops a chance to grow a little I top at 3 weeks and 4 weeks and most plants from seed still show pre flowers in week 5 and I am still ready to switch to 12/12 it does not slow me down. I can top a plant and flower quicker than lst for sure. and stillget a bush full of fat nuggets
