Newbie needs help on flushing phase? Before harvest!

Alryt so I learned the flushing phase only thing I need to figure out is if I start that phase shortly before or after the buds are ripe?

? ok I soil grow, feed with DNF. I have my 3 week minimum of plan h2o before I'll ever chop/

See is it the same for hydroponics? I'll be flushing with clearex by botanicare..is it still the same timespan?
